Keep the optimism boys. I hope I'm wrong but I have a feeling we won't be top 3 when it comes to that. Plenty of time I know, but from what I can tell, he is playing somewhere else next year for not only better competition and a raise in his rankings, but to get a feel of living away from home. Nothing would make me happier if we landed him but I won't bet on it.

I haven't noticed Vaughn give Iowa State any love for a few months now...

To be fair he hasn't given any school much love for a few months now. The occassional comment about UNC but it's usually something that he just retweets. It's a slow season for basketball now with EYBL over.

I could have coached that team to a NC. Color me unimpressed when a team full of one-and-dones wins a NC. Recent teams like Michigan and Butler have to do it the hard way. I can appreciate that.

Michigan??? They had two freshman that would have been high first round picks. The best player last year in Burke who was only a sophomore. They also had another top freshman in Stauskus(sp?). The only upper classman that was good was Hardaway Jr. And he was a first round pick as well. I would not compare them to Butler.

Butler had just given him a huge contract extension too... guess it helps you realize that a contract extension is nice, but it's not always a guarantee that the coach will stick around. We have the benefit of Hoiberg creating a possible legacy at Iowa State, but the right offer and right team in the NBA could be dangerous. It's only a $500K buyout to the NBA.

Joking aside, a 16 yr olds lack-of-bulk is a non-issue. These kids are growing like weeds, workout hours every day, and it's likely 2 years before they'll see significant D1 minutes. I saw a lot that I like from Macura's highlights - he's got a quick crossover, and a explosive toward the hoop. He's definitely more than a shooter.
