As of today, Sankey is the defacto leader fo college football.

Look for him to slither his way into the first 'commissioner of college football' role once everyone gets their **** together and rules are put into place that control NIL, the Portal etc.
No, he is the mouthpiece for ESPN and the moves they want to make to max out their profit.

Best thing going rn is B1G recognizing that having multiple customers (Fox, NBC, CBS as well as ESPN) is a good way to keep power for yourself. That helps Big12 and ISU.

In light of super conference and realignment…here’s this. “We make a lot of money on our thing and we like it”... after living in the SE they are hyper into their team and their conference. Maybe it’s the prevailing model…

Sankey can **** right off with his crocodile tears

Why is the ACC interested in SMU, Cal, and Stanford?
That's insane.

Is this why they got out of Barstool?
From the article:

As part of the transaction, Penn is selling Barstool Sports, a sports media company, back to its founder, David Portnoy. Penn bought full control of the company from Mr. Portnoy this year, after acquiring a partial stake in 2020. And the Barstool Sportsbook brand was the name of Penn’s online sports book, which was struggling to compete with rivals like DraftKings and FanDuel. ESPN Bet will now replace that branding.

In a brief Twitter video, Mr. Portnoy celebrated the news that he was back in control of Barstool, which he founded in 2003.

“For us, for Barstool, for the first time in forever, we don’t have to watch what we say, how we talk, what we do,” he said. “It’s back to the pirate ship.”

Well that didn’t take long…

Saw this tweet from Dennis Dodd yesterday and nearly gagged, and that was before I learned of Sankey's comments regarding the playoff.

The state of journalism in college football is so, so terrible. We deserve better than what we're getting.

I would assume the same reason that the big 12 is adding and the reason the pac evaporated… so that when they get raided next they will still have enough teams left to be viable.

Reached out as in sorry to hear about your loss? Or reached out to do something to help? Was he reaching out to see if the PAC was interested in Vanderbilt?

They got out of barstool because it failed...espn didn't spend anything on this in answering another poster , Penn is spending and Disney is getting Penn equity

I don't remember hearing anything about him calling any of the Big XII schools 2 years ago and apologizing to those administrations.

And that comment after he essentially said what a shame this happened to the Pac 12, the SEC didn't have any interest in expanding (don't blame us for any of this) and maybe we need to cut down the number of teams we let into the B1G/SEC Invitational.

What an absolute piece of s***.

To be fair, we didn't actually blow up like the Pac did, so perhaps we might have gotten our own consolation call had that happened.

But yeah, I'm pretty tired of CFB writers carrying water for these guys and their faux sympathy. The way almost everyone has behaved has been pretty off-putting.

Why the hell is there all this sympathy for the Pac 12? Back in both 2011 and 2021, ADs and commissioners across them country justified the Big 12’s expected demise as “realignment has always existed and is normal”.

I agree it sucks that the Pac 12 is folding and Oregon State/Wazzu are without P4 homes but I’m annoyed that everyone just viewed the Big 12 as second tier for the last 15 years, couldn’t care less if the Big 12 folded, but now all of a sudden realignment is horrible.. and the guy interviewed in the article is a major player in causing the Pac 12 to fold.
They didn't just accept the Big 12 as dead. They laughed, mocked, and celebrated.

This is true the Big XII didn't implode back in 2011 or 2021, so he didn't have to make a phone call. But he was the direct reason for the impending implosion both times.

Funny how his tune changes when he wants to be the good guy in all this.
