Wow all my replies became bunched up here at the end,

After spending most of my evening sopping up everyone's super conference drivel. I have came to a conclusion as to how this could come about.
1) First some laws would need to be changed.
2) Second secret meetings would have to be held featuring the selected top 20 football schools, and the selected top 20 basketball schools. Probably only about 30 schools m/l as some can play both sports.
3) A consortium of ESPN, and Las Vegas Gambling interests, and international gambling interests would fund the program, including college expenses and contracted payments to all players in football and basketball.
4) All games would be broadcast and all betting would be through the sponsors.
5) Much much money for all. Amen.
(Oh and the players may not gamble on these games.)

Only Vegas has the knowledge and finances to pull this off.

Ucla USC left when they had options. Texas OU left when they had options.

These national brands were in 5 conferences. They are now in 3, but the national brands in the ACC are not happy. The trend shows we are getting closer and closer to all the national brands into 1 conference
F*ck Sankey lying POS he has no problem destroying any conferences.
That or he has an incredible lack of self-awareness. Either way…no reason to take him seriously on this.

Exactly. Mr Crocodile Tears Sankey. So much sadness for the sport.....gtfo. He started this whole mess by taking UT and OU, knowing damn well it would probably tank the Big 12. The media has never once thrown this guy under the bus for this mess because of the SEC dollar signs....part of the reason why this whole realignment culture has persisted.

"Knowing damn well it would tank the Big12"

It was much worse than that. He colluded with ESPN to shank the Big12 and force those teams to the AAC for $9m per year. It was all a grand master plan and he was the hired killer.

Thank goodness for TAMMY being so mad about it they leaked it early, giving the Big12 time and a chance to survive.

In light of super conference and realignment…here’s this. “We make a lot of money on our thing and we like it”... after living in the SE they are hyper into their team and their conference. Maybe it’s the prevailing model…

Why the hell is there all this sympathy for the Pac 12? Back in both 2011 and 2021, ADs and commissioners across them country justified the Big 12’s expected demise as “realignment has always existed and is normal”.

I agree it sucks that the Pac 12 is folding and Oregon State/Wazzu are without P4 homes but I’m annoyed that everyone just viewed the Big 12 as second tier for the last 15 years, couldn’t care less if the Big 12 folded, but now all of a sudden realignment is horrible.. and the guy interviewed in the article is a major player in causing the Pac 12 to fold.

Some jealous A&M jarhead out there accidently saved the Big 12 as we know it and we'll never know their name to thank them.

The last word on the Pac 12 boils down to a lack of national exposure for its teams. By being only a west coast conference, no one from the midwest and east coast cared about their games. They needed to balance their west coast games with out of area games in the midwest and east regions. They could have been saved if when the Big 12 went through its problems a merger of the two conferences could have been arranged, allowing their teams into the central region and east to West Virginia.
Not only was no one watching the P12, but their fans were not showing up either, check out the link from 2022. The league died because of their own doing, they should have killed off the B12 when UT and OU signed to leave for the SEC, but the P12, was too good a league for the lowly B12 schools. How things change in a matter of a few years.

I actually think there would have been the same statements made if the Big12 collapsed. But it’s all BS talk either way. The media cheered when the Big10 added Oregon and Washington just like they were cheering when the SEC added OuT and the Big10 added USC. Once that excitement dies down, they’ll give their fake thoughts and prayers to the teams that didn’t make it onto a life boat. But come next week, they’ll only care about the teams that did. Don’t think that these statements are anything more than a PR move to make people forget about what they just did.

Cal has huge payments, like 18m per year just for interest, which is set to increase in the next couple years. Mostly due to the renovations and retrofitting for earth quakes on their stadium.

Iowa is well known to spend out of their means...then try to get out of paying for it after the fact. Its surprising the BOR continues to let them get away with it.
If you compare debt to gdp, Iowa AD has a higher proportion of debt than the United States.

Time to eliminate all conference ties and initiate a bowl game draft. Let's get some good games if we're not watching playoff football.
If they televised it like they do with the NFL draft, I would think most above average fans of schools Bowl eligible would watch (I know I would ). The draft order would be by total payouts, and The suspense is there (like the NFL draft) that a team gets selected a lot earlier (or later) than the media projections.

MAKE IT HAPPEN ESPN/FOX!!!
