True, but this girl was actually a cheerleader at Arkansas. They would have to tally their weight and were pressured to loose weight.

I would describe her body as border line anorexia. But her view was that Midwest girls were chunky, even someone at a healthy weight. The point is, that for someone who could have probably gained a little weight, she viewed people who didn’t look like her as fat. Reenforcing the southern idea of how women should look.
Not fat. It is called corn fed.

Lining his own pocket is what he was trying to say if he could make this bs happen. Otherwise, wtf is he talking about. Holy ****, get that ****** out of his job.
This. His comment sounds exactly like somebody that was either promised or took a payoff and is mad others ruined it for him. You don't try and sell a deal that you have already turned down.

Looks like we should select ASU as a new foe and rival.

Yeah, I worked with a girl who went to Arkansas (grew up in Mississippi). She viewed Midwest girls as fat because they didn’t have the twig figure body that she had. But it seemed like there is a southern culture for girls to look skinny and their best all the time. At least what I took from talking to her.
My Southern (Missouri) wife still fits in her high school clothing. 5'9", 115 pounds. Absolute angel.

Stanford is one of the top 25 most-watched football programs, one spot behind TCU. Only one other new B12 team is ahead of them-Oklahoma State.

First, that is the second half of the most successful decade of Stanford football.

Second, PAC average viewership numbers are completely bogus. PACN has not made viewer numbers available, so they are rarely ever accounted for. Instead of being like the Big 12 and having your worst games on FS2 and ESPNU count toward your average, this guy just omits them and they do not count toward the average. It doesn’t just skew them a little, it makes the data **** worthless.

That’s part of the reason people that write about sports media or conferences have gotten things so horribly wrong. There’s some really poor analysis that luckily the media companies don’t fall for.

I kind of hope the ACC doesn’t get raided. That just leads to a P2 and we aren’t apart of that. I’d be just fine riding out these 4 conferences for as long as possible.
The nice part is right now the ACC is more likely to get raided than the big12. So if SEC were to poach Clemson and FSU (miami and a team to be named later if they want to get to 20) and big 10 goes after UNC and tries to push ND out of independence (duke or Louisville would be my guess for next targets if they arent successful) leaves plenty of big markets for the big12 to stay viable. We would still have a seat at the table, though it may be a booster chair.

The Big 12's danger isn't being raided. We just don't have a lot that other conferences will poach. Our danger comes when the Big 10 and SEC push for more and more money and time slots, add more desirable teams from the ACC, and we're pushed out of a game with limited resources.

But we won't be raided again. There isn't really anybody left.

Right. Maybe not raised, but squeezed off of TV. Maybe that's okay with streaming coming in, but I think ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX will always be a huge part of college sports. If they can get all their timeslots in 2 conferences....that's a problem.

A less likely scenario could be a weakened ACC attempting to woo WVU, UCF, Cincy to backfill with the argument of geography and old rivals.

There's plenty of options that aren't great. But the good news is that we are on solid footing for the first time in a long time!

What PAC members should have done:

1) been incredibly skeptical of Kliavkoff as he kept delaying the presentation of his “incredible” media deal

2) realized Colorado was being rational the minute they started cozying up to the B12, instead of continuing to denigrate the “truck stop conference”

3) maybe start the process of leaving when Kliavkoff suddenly said he had a media deal ready after Colorado left. If it takes a member jumping to get you to produce your deal, you know it’s not “incredible”

4) if none of those things made you ready to jump, the instant Kliavkoff finished his presentation the remaining members should have been burning the phones and getting offers. It shouldn’t have taken a week to decide to leave; it should have been hours.

Instead we got a week of delay, discussion, more badmouthing of being “forced” into such a terrible conference, rumors of an miraculous last-ditch survival (even though Arizona had apparently already left), and near bridge-burning of the only lifelines left for these schools. So smart!

Well if we're playing with hindsight, the Pac 12 should have accepted the same TV deal the big 12 eventually agreed to.

But they didn't, they overvalued themselves and the Big 12 took advantage.

Thats what I am saying though, the next raid is likely to come to the ACC and with still a lot of big media markets to grab I think we could end up still with ESPN and Fox time slots. There will still be games to show, we will probably have more thursday friday games but we will have slots.

Just some perspective of TV viewership under the new conference alignments.

These charts are so apples to oranges, and they have very little value because of that.

Still, they confirm that I’d be open to Stanford if ESPN wanted to get in California/add more After Dark inventory, and that I’m looking forward to Louisville and Pitt (and more) later joining us.

It’d be fitting if there were a true P4, we added Stanford, and each P4 had one of Stanford, Duke, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt.
