What PAC members should have done:
1) been incredibly skeptical of Kliavkoff as he kept delaying the presentation of his “incredible” media deal
2) realized Colorado was being rational the minute they started cozying up to the B12, instead of continuing to denigrate the “truck stop conference”
3) maybe start the process of leaving when Kliavkoff suddenly said he had a media deal ready after Colorado left. If it takes a member jumping to get you to produce your deal, you know it’s not “incredible”
4) if none of those things made you ready to jump, the instant Kliavkoff finished his presentation the remaining members should have been burning the phones and getting offers. It shouldn’t have taken a week to decide to leave; it should have been hours.
Instead we got a week of delay, discussion, more badmouthing of being “forced” into such a terrible conference, rumors of an miraculous last-ditch survival (even though Arizona had apparently already left), and near bridge-burning of the only lifelines left for these schools. So smart!
