That's a southern thing for sure.

Yeah, I worked with a girl who went to Arkansas (grew up in Mississippi). She viewed Midwest girls as fat because they didn’t have the twig figure body that she had. But it seemed like there is a southern culture for girls to look skinny and their best all the time. At least what I took from talking to her.

Plus Vegas is very fun!
I agree Vegas is fun, but the atmosphere of KC for the tournament is so unique. Vegas will not give two ***** about the fans being there, KC hotels, businesses, infrastructure are so welcoming and excited for the fans to be there. Like sure I get it, they want $$$ but at least you are competing with the international concrete workers association and some video games con for space and accomodations.

They go all out all the time. I was in a bar in Atlanta, and it felt like I was in the twilight zone. Every girl looked exactly the same (blond sorority types) and a lot of them were approaching me. I do OK, but not like that. Maybe I need to move to the south.

Its entirely possible this will go down as one of the most colossal failures in college football. The Pac12 hubris that GK exhibited was thrown back at him with a $19 mil valuation by a ******* phone/computer company lol
I actually think GK gets too much heat. No one watches Pac12 sports, what kind of deal was he supposed to get? GK lying to everyone and being overly optimistic about how much money he though they could get was a terrible approach, but I don't think another commissioner would have magically saved the conference. Once it was clear they were only going to get like 60-70% of the Big 12, the Pac12 was doomed.

As for the Pac12 ADs. It seemed they've just been sitting on their hand for 1-2 decades doing nothing to drum up fan support. Pollard spent 20 years promoting football, touring the state, etc.. to get the Iowa State fanbase to where it is now, mostly on the backs of losing seasons too.

If you’re young, do it.

In fairness that's all around the country. We've gotten used to fat people and it's warped what healthy looks like.

Their biggest mistake was turning down a full merger (including ISU, K-State, etc.) with the Big Xii multiple times because of reasons. What they failed to realize is that a conference from the Pacific Ocean to the Mississippi River adding markets in Texas, OKC, KC and DSM would have been a phenomenal TV Block. While the Big Xii markets are technically smaller than the Pac markets, the Big Xii markets actually watch CFB and CBB. So, the Pac teams would have had higher TV Ratings with a merger. Oh well. Their loss due to reasons.

You go where you're wanted.

Kansas City is the standard.
OKC was fine, and Bricktown was a nice option.
Dallas didn't give a ****.

Vegas has what -- four conference tournaments going on simultaneously, plus all of the other extraneous stuff?

To be fair, Vegas will have one less Basketball Tournament after next year.
Too soon?

Idk how i feel abt Stanford.

One hand, they are an incredible world leading university, with a hugely successful athletics dept. Great to build connections there. I dont think Stanford is nearly as exclusionary (like the old Ivies) based on family or class based on their genesis. And witness someones comment abt how they hold ISU engr and comp sci in high regard - thats not the mark of a "too good for you" school.

Otoh, they dgaf about football and dont really love sports like most schools, because they are too cool, rich and powerful. That successful AD is mostly about rich kid nonrev sports. Wont bring much tv interest except when they host ND. And they may always covet B1G.

Tldr; i dont know how i feel about it.
Stanford is one of the top 25 most-watched football programs, one spot behind TCU. Only one other new B12 team is ahead of them-Oklahoma State.

True, but this girl was actually a cheerleader at Arkansas. They would have to tally their weight and were pressured to loose weight.

I would describe her body as border line anorexia. But her view was that Midwest girls were chunky, even someone at a healthy weight. The point is, that for someone who could have probably gained a little weight, she viewed people who didn’t look like her as fat. Reenforcing the southern idea of how women should look.
