I think Arizona flat out told them "we're leaving in a few days" or they came to realize that truth in some other way.

Utah, and to a lesser extent ASU are now coping with the realities of what that means and asking if the truck stop B12 horror they created is real or fantasy. hint: it's a fantasy

I'd watch the crap out of anything hosted by Maria.
As long as she does’t laugh, it is enough to jump off a cliff.

I wonder how connected fully online students are with there schools athletic programs? My memories were made by being in Jack Trice and Hilton, not watching a game on a TV screen. I guess multiple yrs of listening to Pete Taylor and Eric Heft didn't hurt also, but I actually started listening more once I attended ISU.

I'm not saying you are incorrect I was just drawing off of my own experience.

I listened to Pete and Eric a lot as a student in 97-00 because our tv deal was so bad we played non televised road games pretty regularly. I’m assuming we were understandable last pick before turning it around.

Thamel says that the 3 schools want to move together because they each don't want to be seen alone as breaking up the conference. So freaking dumb. The conference was broken the moment the UCLA USC news dropped.
Thamel is always spot on, so I fully believe the 3 want to move together. I also see this as Utah and ASU giving the B12 a heads up that they want a 15th and 16th spot made available thru ESPN/Fox, and a reverse leveraging similar to the B12 saying they only have room for one more. To me, this is signaling if the deal presented tomorrow is indeed a dud, all 3 are fully ready to make the move. That being said, if for some reason only 14 spots are indeed available, AZ still probably comes over. As much as ASU and Utah seem like they would not fully fit the B12 culture, if they want to come over you have to take them.

Utah would fit the “culture” just fine, probably way more than they ever fit with the coastal schools. They’re 100% butthurt they thought they beat byu through realignment and they ended up getting bested.

Pretend BYU is Iowa and Utah is Iowa State to get a sense for that dislike.

Just running down the strategy likely to unfold today.
AZ->B12
Depending on WA/OR coffers and B1G position, I could see B1G balking at this point, knowing they can get WA/OR next time around. This leaves BY tightening the GOR screws on WA/OR. This is the play I'd be working right now with ASU/UT as a backup. I see the risk of trying being low as where else are ASU/UT going. And despite what a lot of people here say, the market numbers for WA/OR will, IMO, dilute the B1G. Yes, I'd put ASU/UT on the backburner for this strategy and stay at 14 if WA/OR -> B12.
If BY has inside info from B1G or my numbers aren't was the B1G's are, then ASU/UT is the play and let WA/OR eat into their coffers and sweat it out in the impending dumpster.

This chart gives me comfort that Arizona will bolt.

If they really are last in football viewership and the subscription revenue is based upon viewership over the last 10 years then AZ will be at the bottom in PAC revenue Making the Big 12 guarantee very attractive.

The same chart likely helps UW and Oregon justify staying.

I wonder what viewership is for PAC basketball.

Fairly confident that hate is on a different level than ISU/Iowa, but I understand your point
Agreed. Add in the religious aspect, and I think their rivalry has a different flavor than CyHawk.

Iowa and ISU fans are the same people about 85% of the time. Except we actually support farmers. And they’re all rich kids from the Chicago suburbs. (Am I doing this right?)

So what happens if 14 is a hard limit for Fox? Is Arizona’s conviction to this pact enough for them to pass on the offer for a life raft? Where does that leave the Big12? Would Oregon come alone and blow up the PAC?

Going to be an interesting day followed by a crazy week I’m sure.

If there is one seat on the lifeboat do you take it? Or go down with the Titanic?

ASU and Utah are not thinking about what is best for Arizona. At this point they are in competition with each other for an escape.
