Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Can they get out of their current conference contract? Clemson and FSU was suing to get out of the contract and then dropped the suit, why if could get out of the contract? Could very well be, they wanted to leave, but they couldn't find a loop hole to get out.
2031 they can buy out their media rights for 75mil. 2036 is when they can leave penalty free.

The exit fees for them to leave the ACC are significantly reduced to $75M in 2030-31 and they keep their TV rights if schools leave at that time.

Agreed which is why if a breakaway occurred I would imagine the rest of the P4 would get the invite as well so that access is still there without also losing a ton of fans.

In that event a lot of rearranging could potentially happen and that’s where JP’s comments could (potentially) bite him. Then again this isn’t happening for years anyways
TV will be making the decision on the breakaway teams.. Plus, Harlan of Utah trashed the Big 12 and Utah got invited.

And if the Big 12 was in the position of the B1G or SEC, they wouldn't support it either. And if Texas Tech was in the SEC, Cody Campbell would be perfectly happy and wouldn't be doing any of this. This whole thing is an exercise in hypocrisy. And you know it.
I doubt it due to the B12 not being shackled to ESPN or Fox.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Clemson doesn’t get an invite. They’re in a smaller population state who already has SEC presence and they will be well divorced from the glory days
I'm right with you. I don't think Clemson gets an invite. They had their time but it's over.

I mean do you trust the P2 to not be petty ******* if they do break away and are looking to bring in most of the P4 or extending invites to the majority of schools? I certainly don’t and I guarantee you that someone in that room will bring up what he said and it will have some impact based on how his statement was shown to everyone at the league meetings.

Again that’s like multipule dominos that need to fall there but as a leader of an AD you need to be out there not doing any harm not scoring some random internet points when if gains you nothing but has the potential to cost you a lifeline
Pollard understands that ISU is not getting an invite if the Big10 and SEC break away and invites other teams to join them. So he loses nothing by bringing it all out in the open.

disagree on that one, but it depends on how it goes down. Are they getting an invite to the big ten or SEC? No. If a breakaway occurs could a large number of other teams be brought along to avoid any ratings issues or other problems, 100%. If that’s he case (again an if but a probable one) those comments will for sure resurface and several AD’s will hold that against ISU

Clemson is in the top 20 in revenue. All while playing the the ACC with similar payouts to the big 12. They for sure get an invite.

Uhhh, yeah if the P2 were in support or played ball as you said then everyone would be in agreement and plenty of things could be in motion. But they aren’t and never will be which again is why Fed intervention isn’t ever happening.

Problem now if that with the delays in the P2 plan more and more of the focus is going to be on getting out of or rid of the NCAA. While I’m not a fan of the NCAA in general I still don’t like that idea. But when you have people like JP basically daring them to and more and more consolidated power it’s getting more likely to happen. I just hope when it does the whole P4 joins on but my fear is that not all of the P4 (plus the big east) would get that invite as it would be chaos. That’s also where JP shooting his mouth off could royally cost ISU which I don’t want to see.

Cutting out the G5 is bound to happen and most likely needs to happen at the highest levels but I want the P4 to stay intact
The P4 isn’t staying intact without Fed intervention and at least 20 existing ACC and B12 schools will get destroyed (JP’s words) with out that intervention, including ISU.

JP also wants the P2 to leave which would destroy even more schools if they didn’t get the new invite. So take his words with a grain of salt my man.

If he and you are hanging your hopes on the Fed, well that’s just a losing horse to hang your future on

If they allow schools to break away, unless the number is 64 or so, then ISU is not going to make it one way or another. At 48 or so, that means 14 schools, ISU is not in that group no matter Pollard says or does not say.

I can easily see all of, or the vast majority willing to commit, of the P4 going along. No need to have a G5 sacrifice or to play those lower teams anymore which raises the media value a bit. (Also the big east is an easy add)

Now unfortunately a lot of that power will be even more in the P2 than it already is which is why JP firing his mouth off is potentially shooting ISU in the foot. Again, it gained nothing but has the potential to cost the university
