And from the comment section of the funny I posted above...

"It was Hanukkah and the tiny village was in fear of not having any latkes because they had run out of flour.

Rudi, the rabbi, was called upon to help solve the problem.

He said, "don't worry, you can substitute matzo meal for the flour and the latkes will be just as delicious!"

Sheila looks to her husband and says, "Morty ... you think it'll work?" and Morty says,

"of course!

Everybody knows. .................

Rudolph, the Rab, knows grain dear!""

We are in a small group at church and had some new people come. They are in their mid to late 40s and commented that they moved to CR from Madison because it was getting too liberal. In my mind I thought. Dammit @cowgirl836

I'm laughing because IDK what that even means.........the city/surround suburbs are continuing to outpace.......everywhere........in the rest of this state in terms of good economic anything. So good riddance, I suppose??

This demonstrates the difference between Liberals and Conservatives. Liberals move to New Zealand and Canada when it becomes too conservative. Conservatives move to Australia and Cedar Rapids when it gets too liberal.

After much discussion and price checking and everything else, we have come to the conclusion that one more "big" trip in the space of 6 months is just too many. In addition to Maui, we're cruising from San Diego to Miami via the Panama canal in April.

So, I guess there will be a watch party at our place. All y'all are welcome - bring allergy meds if you're allergic to cats. :)

Wherever I go, there I am.
Yea, I just booked a flight from Omaha, I checked out KC and prices weren't really any better so flying out of Omaha was a no brainer. I figured I could Uber from the airport to the hotel and pretty much walk from there. I'm guessing this is gonna be a $2,000 trip. A little more than I would like for a couple of nights but what the heck.
Take the bike!!

Not exactly sure.
10-12 years ago I nearly started a part time business (many do it full time but can do it part time too) but didn’t when I heard a friend was going to be doing basically the same thing and he needed it as full time gig. Always thought about jumping back in if he quit or retire. He is a “few” years older than me.

He had been trying to get ahold of me for a little bit. Chatted with him recently about what he wanted. He has hired a couple people and is looking down the road. Wants to know if my oldest would be interested in the profession. Wants somebody in a few years to help expand and then take over. Fantastic opportunity.

Mentioned situation to oldest and he said he’s definitely would be interested. Hopefully this is positive karma for once for letting my friend have it. (I never told him of my near venture into the business). I had very good connections had I started the business and he would have struggled getting footing had we competed.

Who knows if there will still be interest either way in four years but it honestly is right up my kids alley, strengths and likes.

Weird day here as I go wrangling through our financial party.
Apparently, working at DMACC gets me their fundraising stuff, too. The president and his wife included some pumpkin bar recipe along with the request for $. I never knew that was a strategy, or that I was a target.

Bank sends a check today for overpayment of interest on a car loan that has been paid off for at least a dozen years. Check amount is $1.48 plus 6 cents for any inconvenience this may have caused. I don't see why they bothered. Any inconvenience that amount would have cost me is long over by now.

So I guess I'm grateful?

Just had to do a corrective action on an employee. Actually feel bad about it (is this what having feelings is like?! Am I getting soft?!)

He’s a genuinely good person and really cares about the kids that come in, but it’s one of those situations where, because he did a good job, the business tripled, and now it’s so much that I think it just overwhelms him above his ability.

Someone sent me a meeting request at 7:56am for an 8am meeting and are ripping mad I didn't make it.

Sorry pal three things wrong there: assuming I am available before 9am, assuming I am free 4min before meeting start time and assuming I am prepared for a meeting 4min from now.

Reason #4, no donuts?
