Got finished painting the house this weekend. :) Was worried I wouldn't get done before the cold and bad weather put a stop to it - hated the thought of a two-tone house all winter.

Also took the dinner train on the Boone Scenic Railway Friday evening. It was OK - I think their use of the word "scenic" is a bit of a stretch, though. Prime rib was not great, catered from Hy-Vee and both our pieces were very fatty.

But this was something the vixen wanted to do, so I bought tickets as an anniversary gift. We both decided we were glad we did it, but we probably wouldn't do it again.

My best friend stopped yesterday while I was painting. He wanted to help, but I was almost done by then. He had been home from work a couple days early in the week (said he was sick), and he admitted that he was laid up with severe depression. He even told me that he had some suicidal thoughts......he had even gotten his handgun out and loaded it.

He has always been one to keep to himself, pretty steady-as-she-goes for the most part. Not one to complain or talk about his problems. But this was a real startler for me. I have known him since we were kids - probably close to 50 years - and I never in a million years dreamed this would come from him.

So, I guess I need to be a better friend and try to inject some good things into his life. We are going on our annual deer hunt to Madeline Island on Lake Superior in a few weeks, and I know this will help a lot.

We've look at doing this, too. Your conclusion is exactly what we figured we would think.

Sounds like the scenery from Thomas the train. Took you out to the dump and a junkyard for Boone and back.

We used to use them in one of my stores next to a tractor supply. Came in one day and found the stick trap with just two mouse legs stuck to it and a trail of blood the led to a small crack between the wall and the floor.

Stopped using them after that. **** was straight out of a horror movie.
Years ago using old school mouse traps, that thing hit a mouse just right and peeled the skin off it's head. Dead mouse with an exposed skull and a flap of skin at one end.

They are also cannibals. I have found some mice caught in Jaws that have had their heads chewed off and gone. Pretty sure it's zombie mice. Brains!

The only traps I can handle are the ones where the mouse goes in the little trap and you don’t see them dead. Even those I make my husband throw away outside. The glue traps are just cruel.:(

I’ve literally been waiting for 20 minutes in this Dunkin Donuts for a regular black coffee....
A couple of weeks ago I pulled up at a Scooters for a plain ole coffee. After five minutes not a single car had moved so I backed up and drove to a Burger King to get a coffee. You have to give the coffee industry credit. They somehow have people spending $5+ on a freaking coffee flavored milk shake that seems to take 5 minutes to make.

I went into a Starbucks in Amsterdam, just for a black coffee. Even though the gal spoke excellent English getting this across was cumbersome.
