What the heck, Ames?
Car chase through our neighborhood. Talked to Z about staying inside. That was easy.

We had the doors unlocked. Not long after, there was some FAST entering and leaving our building, which always jars our door a bit. We had a stern knock, I said "stay behind me, buddy. We don't know who's out there right now."

Turns out it was the State Patrol, also concerned. We all talked calmly, as there didn't seem to be any signs of duress or anything here. I offered our home for a search. They're looking for a woman, (new neighbor, I'm guessing).

Multiple cars of Ames Police and State Patrol with officers combing the yard all around our building. Saw an officer through the back door, so I went to talk to him, lest he think I'm just ignoring stuff. He had a couple basic questions like "Is anyone else there?" I told him my 5 year old was in there on the couch and the chief shouted over "He's good. We already talked." They recommended locking all the doors, so that's done.

Just went upstairs to use the bathroom and there's a pulling on the upstairs, never should have been there door, which has a chain lock. I talk for a second to some woman I don't know who pulled on the door. Told her nobody uses that door, she told me the police were here and left. Double-checked the lock on the doorknob like that'll matter.

Meanwhile, a car is being towed from our parking lot.

I asked him if he bowed out because of his side bet last year, and he raised his eyebrows. :D

Then we got started on talking basketball...and he informed me that he's jealous about my trip next month. Never thought a doc would be jealous of lil' ol' me! ;)
Speaking of basketball - OUR TICKETS ARRIVED TODAY!!!!

I'm with Pants on the peanut butter debate. Chunky always seemed to me like peanut butter that didn't get totally finished right.

As someone who has had orthodontia...smooth. The little bits of peanuts always got stuck in my wires.

I would have brought a bag of salted in the shell peanuts from Tork's Pub and an 8-pack of 16 oz bottles of RC Cola.

Big can of Spaghettios with saltine crackers....and Mountain Dew.

And good grief, @CycloneErik , stay safe!

Had a first for me last night. Went to bed at 10:30, woke at 2 to DH walking into the room with a hungry baby. I'm like wow, he slept that whole time! He just wake up? DH says yes to just waking up........you didn't hear him wake at midnight? Apparently baby woke then and I didn't notice. Whoops. DH thought I was awake, apparently I said something like "it's ok little buddy" and went back to sleep, lol.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that talked like I was the Skipper around my Gilligan.

You have to view it in full screen to get the whole picture

I've seen similar videos but not that one. That was pretty funny. On a similar but not as humorous note my niece flipped her car going to school yesterday, running late and it got loose on the gravel and got away from her. Lucky she is fine just sore as can be today. Car's totaled. Thank goodness she was buckled up.

My observation, going back to the 1960's, that rural Iowans drive too fast on gravel still holds true. Glad she's okay.

Me in 1968 "Hey, Fred, if you want to bring us down for landing there's a nice cornfield over to our right." Translation, JFC will you ******* slow down!

Poker Site is down again for tonight's tournament. More nasty emails. Ugh.

But me and another colleague are pissed off enough we spent a couple hours coding a new site/app for next year. Got the table and some card distribution down already. Shuffling is really bad but I'll take it right now.

In a year we'll have a decent play money poker app that'll work on iPhone, Android, and Windows 10 if this progress is worth any salt.

Hope all's ok....reminds me of one time a few years ago when I was woken up by a knock on my 3rd floor apartment door around midnight by a couple of officers that had received a call for a disturbance. I lived alone and had been in bed for 2 hours, so this was news to me....I don't think I talk or scream in my sleep.

I also had to pee real bad and let them search my place since it was better them than me since I didn't have a gun. They didn't find anyone or anything, but they also wouldn't let me go to the bathroom, which makes total sense, but that made their 2 minute search feel like about 15 minutes. They left, I went, and then back to bed, wondering if I had dreamt the whole thing.

This is a place very near a police station in a safe area so not exactly crime ridden... odd experience.

It's all quiet now.
We have significant road construction right by our house, so this was a really strange place to see this all happen. Well, and we're a really, really quiet neighborhood.

Yeah If you grow up driving on gravel, you just get used to it and overconfident. Few weeks ago up in Minn. everything had went poorly at work way behind and between sites I looked down and was running 70, backed that down oops.
