Maybe it's because you're knowledgeable about history but are teaching a math course.

Seriously though, if you keep getting those reviews, you won't be waiting much longer. I'm assuming this is a bit like in the business world where you usually need experience and teaching this course is you gaining experience.

It's not. The standard motto that you hear is that teaching well won't land a job.
So much of this just comes down to lucky timing, like the ringer showing up for the Ole Miss job he never should have been applying for.

There's basically a very short window to land a job or get out. There's no extended time of gaining experience, because the person that's out doing that will be perceived as someone who wasn't good enough to land a job. Then the schools just move on to someone who hasn't "proven" that they aren't good enough. It's a harsh deal.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I haven't done this since my bachelor days.
One of our neighbors had a Glory Days party in which we wore our college apparel and brought what we would have eaten during college to the party (I brought Doritos and a 2 liter of Mountain Dew). One of the ladies brought a jar of peanut butter and a spoon.

On a side note, one of the neighbors that got a degree from Century College wore a Harvard sweatshirt. The young, single women at the party kept asking if he's a doctor, probably because he's handsome.

Welp Chaser you've got a brand new series now 3 games to make the WS. Was hoping the Crew would maintain their lead
This loss is actually good for us. Series will shift back to Miller Park Friday. If we win, we will have no more than 3 days off. If we had won last night and then today, we'd have 5 days off.

Ah, Doritos and Mountain Dew. Lots of this was consumed down the street at my friend's house while we played Super Contra and/or Tecmo Bowl endlessly.

The funny thing is now I'm the lady with the jar of peanut butter and a spoon. Your post has me 100% covered.

ITP: thoughts of a 45-year old child. (me)

me: uh, dear God don't let this be what I think it's going to be...

me: Oh Thank God!

me: Yes. Yes, I am.

edit: multiple edits to make clear that I am very very immature

He was probably hoping for a key party

All of our parties are key parties, probably, mostly, sometimes, occasionally, seldom... OK, never! I hope you're not all disappointed in me.

Ha! I read GR8's post too quickly - I thought he said "Keg" party. JC's post had me baffled at first.

I would have brought a bag of salted in the shell peanuts from Tork's Pub and an 8-pack of 16 oz bottles of RC Cola.

So did I! He told me he isn't playing this year. He's actually in Nevada today playing golf with Dr. Cano (former gas-passer at Mary Greeley, and another acquaintance of mine) and a few other buddies.
I asked him if he bowed out because of his side bet last year, and he raised his eyebrows. :D

Then we got started on talking basketball...and he informed me that he's jealous about my trip next month. Never thought a doc would be jealous of lil' ol' me! ;)
