Couple of nice adjuncting wins today. Both very minor, but those are the wins you can get.
1. Managed to get my exams printed at the school's copy center. System wanted me to use my DMACC computer. Of course, with no office, I don't have one, so I worked through the one in "my" classroom before anyone arrived.

2. Since I teach in a building that doesn't usually house liberal arts classes, or anything but culinary classes, the classroom door is always locked. Today, they gave me a key.

On the flip side, one of my more panicky students sent a frantic e-mail fearing that she left her study guide attached to her quiz. I responded within minutes of her e-mail, but realized something that I wouldn't have known in her shoes. She mentioned that she could come in at any time to get it. She doesn't realize that I have no office. My plan was simply to photograph everything and e-mail her (the documents, people, the documents).

All that said, I'm amazed that schools get away with an arrangement like this. There oughta be a better way, but it's cheap, so here it is.

Um, why does the "recent threads" section of the page to the right say I replied to the "new line of beer at HyVee..." 3 minutes ago? I started the thread yesterday afternoon and haven't replied there at all.
Tried refreshing my browser and it just keeps adding time to the line (now says 4 minutes ago.) What dimension is this anyway?

Longstanding bug here at CF with that little widget. The "last post" only lists the OP, not the person who actually last replied. :(

I'm trying my best to be off-off-topic today so I don't get bogged down in the real world. I've subscribed to the Grammar Girl emails for at least a few years. This is part of the "Quick and Dirty Tips" website.
Until today, I did not realize that the Quick and Dirty Tips website has a tag line of "Do things better." https://www.quickanddirtytips.com/education/grammar/why-do-pirates-say-arr

My boss is pulling rank on me.
In all fairness, I don't necessarily mind. It isn't that bad of a gig, also...
1) Press box is air conditioned. JTS is not. Was very grateful for that last Saturday.
2) The food is actually better....GET THOSE PITCHFORKS AND TORCHES AWAY FROM ME! ;):D

What I always found fascinating about Bond (especially Connery and Moore) was no matter the peril he always found time to get laid. Most of the time with the girlfriend of his nemesis.
