We are still waiting to hear about team placement/fall tourneys. And for the $ not sure if we would do it since she isn’t thinking about college ball/exposure.

State tournament going on now, have a few local teams we are cheering for. Actually a beautiful week for playing, not 110 degrees in the shade for once in the middle of July.

GO DODGERS!!!!

******* raccoons. Just ordered an electric fence transformer to electrify my bird feeder pole. Just to add insult to feed injury the bastards are destroying the landscape on their way to it. Project Rocky Zapper should be completed this weekend.

Would be funny to see video of the little $hit$ getting zapped on the pole and falling to the ground. :D

(No, I'm not a sadist.)

Isn't Mississippi 49th or 50th in education I imagine not a lot of home grown professors

Odds on box being the first one zapped by his new toy?

Your kid will be fine. Two adults that give a **** about education matters way more than school. I went to terrible schools.
I totally agree. Parents teach their kids all the time. It's about being part of the learning, not just trusting the school.

Though my spelling and math isn't very good.

Biggest issue I have had is the he no text book trend and new math. Showed kid how we did it in HS and ISU and he got half wrong since it was done in wrong method but right answer. Asked another parent and they hey had same thing happen.

Interesting that you mention that. It's not (or at least 40 years ago it wasn't) as bad as you would think. I was born in Mississippi, as were both of my brothers. They were in 3rd and 4th grade when we moved to Salt Lake City. They wanted to move both of my brothers up a grade because they were so far ahead of the other kids. We moved to Iowa when I was in 1st grade, and I had to travel to the 3rd grade homeroom for math and reading.

I had to correct my high school social studies guy on basic stuff. It was a terrible school.
I've done all right, I guess.

To your other post, yeah, not a lot of local options, but ironically, the last person to hold this job got her PhD at Ole Miss, then held this spot for 2-3 years and moved on to a tenure-track job.

Definitely not the dead end that many, many adjunct jobs are.

Unlikely because of superior design! Not using the ground as the "ground" like an electric fence but wrapping/weaving a PVC pole with both ground and power bare wires. You have to touch the pole and both wires to get a shock. Transformer is only .1 joules which is pretty weak but I am only running power 25 feet, not thousands of feet through heavy gauge fence wire. Might not be enough but thought I'd start on the way low end. I am not testing it by touching it!

Not using a ground pole, in addition to not using the earth for the ground it's pretty unlikely lightening would strike my little 3' wired post section in neighborhood for 80' trees and tall houses.

Probably just a neighbor kid checking out the pretty birds.

Actually won't do this if feeder was in the yard. It's in the middle of flower bed that no one but me would enter. To even fill the feeder is a tiptoes balancing act reaching from a top a short retaining wall.
