Biggest issue I have had is the he no text book trend and new math. Showed kid how we did it in HS and ISU and he got half wrong since it was done in wrong method but right answer. Asked another parent and they hey had same thing happen.
Same with one of my daughters. She was struggling with math, so I showed her simpler ways of doing it, and the teacher counted them wrong because it wasn't the sh*tty method they were teaching. Even I had trouble understanding it, and I have an engineering degree.

Unlikely because of superior design! Not using the ground as the "ground" like an electric fence but wrapping/weaving a PVC pole with both ground and power bare wires. You have to touch the pole and both wires to get a shock. Transformer is only .1 joules which is pretty weak but I am only running power 25 feet, not thousands of feet through heavy gauge fence wire. Might not be enough but thought I'd start on the way low end. I am not testing it by touching it!

Not using a ground pole, in addition to not using the earth for the ground it's pretty unlikely lightening would strike my little 3' wired post section in neighborhood for 80' trees and tall houses.
Definitely don't test by peeing on it!

I think kids can go most places raccoons do. Maybe frequent garbage cans slightly less often.

A couple of my kids had those Saxon math books for a while. The repetition was brutally boring but I will say after about 4,000 of those unit multiplier problems, there was no way they were going to forget how to do them.

Common Core math where the process is more important than the answer.

Okay total randomness. I got a text just a bit ago from a number that I don't know and it read: "Been shaving your butthole?" I replied: "Kinda inappropriate question to ask someone you don't know, don't you think?" It went on for a couple more texts, evidentially this person thought I was a female by the name of Jen. But seriously, whether you know a person or not why would you lead with that question.

Awesome- what teams?

DD decided to take the offer from the Batbusters. This weekend will be her final tournament as a Wasco Diamond. She informed her coach and the organization head (who is also her hitting coach) after practice last night. She isn't normally a crier, but she had tears and was close to bawling. It finally hit her that her time is almost up with these girls that she's grown so close to over the past couple of years.

I'm so proud of that girl. She knew she had to have a face-to-face with them, that it was the right thing to do, that it would be difficult/emotional, and she did it. Didn't ask me to do it for her, didn't delay it... she's so mature already and she's only 15 years old.

Still with Blitz, they will do a National team, a few Midwest teams, and a local only team. We have requested the local only so pretty sure that is where she will land.

Change can be hard, but sounds like she handled it very well. One thing ours has learned playing club ball is being a mature, responsible athlete. The first year she played the director told the girls they need to carry their equipment. They are the ones playing, they should be the ones carrying it. Just little things like that and not leaving the dugout to ask mommy and daddy for food (she will yell if she needs an immediate water refill). Being a catcher she also has to be able to establish rapport with Blue, always introduces herself. Good luck with the new team!

(I was actually asking which playoff teams you were cheering for, but the Blitz update is awesome, too!) :)

The more I hear from you, the more she sounds like a really great kid. And, whenever you post a photo, she always looks so serious behind that mask! That's good advice from the club, too. The quickest way to get DD taken off of a school's prospect list is by approaching the dugout, yapping at umpires, gossiping about coaches/parents, etc. This isn't P5 football. Coaches want good athletes, sure, but they are going to take a hard pass on head cases, bad grades, etc.

I've gotten some random messages before but nothing like that.

I had like brunchish at a local breakfast place and the Hash Browns were absolutely murdered with salt.

Ha! Misread that one. We are cheering for Collins Maxwell (played Blitz with a few of the girls, their coach helped coach 12U Blitz team we started on with one of his daughters), AGWSR (nephew is a graduate), and Roland Story. Collins Maxwell pitcher was the one who helped the Central Iowa team go far in the World Series a few years ago, she could potentially play D1. Her younger sister (8th grader) leads the team with a .604 average and 47 stolen bases. AGWSR has a great pitcher, too. Is just mind boggling that these tiny towns can have these awesome pitchers and we got nothing. Makes a big difference.

Working sound system at VBS. Log to their internet, pull up CF and get “explore Japanese women”. Either pastor is doing some funky stuff or the Morris/rose thread is messing with my ads.

Well, do you? Inquiring minds want to know...

Door install went really well, took a while but turned out great. Even got my yard mowed that was much needed. I suppose next project will be reroofing a shed that needs it before the wind takes it off for me.

Sorry @Cybirdy ....

Go Albia. (They and Roland-Story play each other tomorrow in the semis...even if the R-S coach is an Ottumwa alum)

Yes, everyone who goes to law school reads the Pennoyer case. This guy's biggest contribution imho was advocating substantive due process, even if he couldn't get all the way to a better ruling in Plessy.

But I thought this was primarily about the calf? I maintain she can do better than Stephen.
I know this was from a while ago, but I just have to say **** Pennoyer, I hated that case. Probably didn't help that I just don't like Civil Procedure

@Cybirdy I just signed up DD for the Labor Day ISU softball camp! Sunday and Monday 9/2-9/3. Are you guys going?

I am going to have to get two tickets for us to watch the SDSU game now also!
See you there! I'll be going to that one with my dad
