Honestly, it’s for the better. I’ve been tentatively looking for another job for over a year. Taxes are a hard business to be in. The burnout is real. Plus, I didn’t get severance, because that’s paid out as a regular paycheck over time, but I did get a separation package of four months of pay up front, plus medical. So as long as I find a job by September, it will work out for the better.

Where you hoping to land?

I kind of was looking all over, but I’ve narrowed it down to California, Florida, the Carolinas and Denver.

I’m not actively looking elsewhere, but if anything pops up in Oregon, washington state, DC, Virginia or Dallas/Austin/San Antonio, I’ll usually throw my resume in those places as well.

Ditto. And it’s been brutal so far.

If you don't mind me asking why the switch? I thought you were the tax king of Minnesota.

Edit: Please ignore, you answered all this after I posted.

Good luck in your search same to Rabbuk & Erik also.

My wife and I closed on a house a couple weeks ago. This is what my mom got us as a housewarming gift.

VEISHEA, an antiquated tradition.:(

@GTO: What do you know about Prairie View, Texas?

Job just opened today at Prairie View A&M, closes Friday. Obviously, they and their candidates have to move quickly.
My research stuff is a perfect complement to most of their faculty, who primarily focus on 20th Century civil rights history.
Historically black college, could be interesting to see if we mesh. And, you know, a good job.
If they move really really quickly, you could be down there for the tail end of this:
