The only time I remember any of us being spanked was when my dad spanked me when I was about 4. He subsequently discovered I didn't do what he thought I did, and he felt so bad, he teared up a bit when he apologized to me. I told him it was ok, it didn't hurt and I had probably done something to deserve it at some point. That made him tear up more. He took just me out fishing with him and bought me ice cream on the way home he felt so bad.

With kids of my own, didn't dream of spanking them. Didn't ever want to feel as bad as my dad did. But we went through time outs and losses of privileges when we needed to.

My doosher of a BIL got drunk and passed out at a party in the bathtub when he was 14. They gave him no punishment but the hangover. No wonder he is so arrogant and entitled.

The mighty cheeseburger is my favorite thing to eat. (The vixen can't understand this.) I thought about starting a cheeseburger thread, to see the favorites of my fellow CF posters. For fast food, I have to go with Wendy's, because they are consistently good. Culver's is a close second, although some Culver's tend to overcook them.

Biggest disappointment in the chains had to be Red Robin.....I went to my first out in Washington with the girls, was all jacked up because I had heard so much about the burgers there, and........meh.
Five Guys is my favorite of the quick service places. I guess I look all the toppings and skin-on fries. Smashburger's pretty good if you get the smash sauce. Pretty bland without.

New furnace going in right now. Down to 64 in the house this morning not terrible but not good with a new born and MrsWx has a preferred temp range of 70-78 so not good there either.

My good friend asked me to be his best man (he was mine). Not a clue what we will do for the bachelor party but I am thinking Chicago.
My bachelor party was in Chicago. Based upon my experience, if you're dressed like Elvis in Lincoln Park, you'll have no trouble making conversation and the single guys in the party will appreciate the fact that every bachelorette party will want a picture with you.

Daughter got predictably routed in her soccer game this weekend. The team she played was really really good and not placed in the right division at all.

Proud dad alert: Despite getting their butts handed to them, Lil Cooler never stopped playing hard, never stopped shouting encouragement to her teammates, and even consoled her teammate that scored an own goal and got her to laugh.

She is still competitive, but she handles losing way better than I ever did.
This is kind of freaky. Daughter's team played a game in tournament yesterday that was clearly a class above daughter's team (daughter's team still pretty darn good). Daughter clearing a ball under pressure as a defender and had a bad touch settling the ball scoring an own goal. She was in goal in the second half and apparently pissed off about it all because she was standing on her head making incredible saves. We even heard the parents of the other team commenting on our great keeper. She kept a 7-0 game from being something more like 15-0.

Are you sure our girls aren't on the same team?

We stuck around for another hour before learning that the second and final game of the day was canceled because other team forfeited. Wish we could have gone home after last game. We left for tourney Saturday at 0730 and got back at 1400 just enough time to mow and vacuum leaves before evening church only to leave for tourney at 0830 and get back at 1700 on Sunday.

Girls that are a good team went 0-2 with a forfeit while boy's team that started the season atrocious went 2-1. Go figure.

Glad school soccer is all that is left.

Thank you, Cyclone Football, for cheap supper tonight. Monday after a win Papa John's has $6.99 one topping large. Hubby had to go out for dinner with people in town for work, so the girls and I had pizza. Usually we could only get winner's pizza during basketball season.

I know I'm far from the most empathetic person in the world, but some of that **** is just lower than low.

Thread should have been closed the day it was started.

Can one of you with it young people tell me if should give a **** who Ed Sheeran is? My sister was all blah. blah, blah went to his concert with her daughter (cause you know, that's cool ), and when she got no reaction from me, informed me he's the current most popular musician in the galaxy. I pay no attention to pop music, so asked my high schoolers, and one of them said "lame" and the other rolled his eyes (although this response happens about a lot of things).

39 year old son really likes his lyrics. Tried to get me to like him, but I found him really really bland.

Finished with a 26-0 win. Biggest thing at game was listening to one of their assistant coaches (who happens to be HS HC) cursing at his team. These are 3/4 grade kids, no reason for that.

Well wanted to give you a like for the win, but then read about the cursing coach and didn't want it to be misinterpreted. Congrats on the win.

Proud of my daughter and her preschool class today. Had their first field trip, this one to the Public Library. Another parent and I went along.

Kids did great, even with a really strangely assembled tour. For whatever reason, the person they picked as a guide took us all to the different return points in the library and showed the kids the processes for getting books back to the shelf. I'm a dork, and I thought it was sort of interesting, but I'm not 4.

I got the distinct feeling from some verbage struggles the guide had trying to alter her description for a young audience that she had about 5 minutes notice or less, and really hadn't done this sort of thing before.

Still, I got to hang in the library with Z, we checked out some books, and read some right when we got home. That's a win.

Not exactly sure.
My oldest will call me out if I don't follow through on a threat, usually on the younger ones. I am not perfect and my kids are not perfect, but we do get people telling us they are well-behaved kids. :) Must catch them on a good day . . .

I always think my kids are little hellians but then everyone says they are so nice. Must act like mom at home and me in public

The vixen was the oldest of four, and she swears her kid sister (the youngest) NEVER got in trouble for ANYTHING. (That's certainly selective memory.) But she tells pretty entertaining stories about how Mishelle (spelling is correct) would come home dead drunk, sometimes with puke on her shoes, or would pass out on the porch swing when she didn't make it inside. My wife swears she would have gotten the yardstick if it had been her. o_O

Soooo, can you tell us more about Mishelle? She seems fun.
