Great idea for the toys!

When we did our one and only garage sale, I had a huge box of cheap and crappy toys I wanted out of the house. I didn't bother asking anything for them. I put a "FREE" sign with an arrow pointing down at the box. I figured it would pacify the occasional kid that was getting dragged around to garage sales.

About half an hour in, one lady shouts "Are these for free?" at me while I was helping someone else. I replied, "Yeah" while questioning her ability to read. Lady grabs the entire box and walks off without getting anything else. The box was all torn and crappy too. It was pretty obvious it wasn't there to transport the toys.

It was just one of numerous encounters that made it clear that yard sales were not something I was ever going to do again.

Look on the bright side, at least you got rid of the crappy toys all at once.

Funny you should mention that...
PapaLew & his mother and 2-3 of his sisters do the 141 Garage sale every year on the first weekend of August, at a sister's place in Woodward. 141 is an annual garage sale that runs through all the towns along Hwy 141, northwest of Des Moines. It even brings in people from surrounding states, it's so big & well established.

He picks up stuff all year round (side of the road, next to dumpsters, etc), tinkers with it in his shop, sells it at the garage sale. Most years he makes 1-2K. His best year was just over 4K iirc. Lucrative little hobby that is 99% profit other than his labor...and he enjoys the tinkering.

He texted a little while ago saying he was having a ball goofing with bored little kids...

{QUOTE="CycloneErik, post: 5775534, member: 5391"]Don't tell @cyrevkah, but Z and I are having a blast playing with fire.[/QUOTE]

So, you didn't see all f the fire we played with while you ran across the state?

Please don't burn too many candles. The smoke makes me cough.

Learning just a bit more about how many people on campus don't know the difference between "reply" and "reply all."
I'm a little more disturbed by how many people are STILL dumb enough to click the attachments on spam emails, and all of a sudden everyone in their address book gets random spam...
