I'm outraged.

Since this combines two of your favorite activities (running and soccer) I came across this pre-World Cup article regarding the true fitness champs: soccer officials

http://www.runnersworld.com/newswire/the-running-resume-of-a-world-cup-soccer-referee

the referees will cover six to eight miles while scrutinizing every move of the action.Players average an estimated seven miles per game

Wow, soccer and running at the same time? I can't imagine the amount of complaining they do about all their owies.

:pwink:

My wife just texted me from a local Mexican restaurant. Her boss took their team out to eat for Cinco de Mayo and they just completed round 2 of tequila shots. The drive home today could be fun.*

*meaning that she has no alcohol tolerance and will likely still be drunk or going through an early hangover stage in three hours. She's not going to be the driver in our carpool scenario. That would just end poorly for her, me, possibly a squirrel or two and definitely a tree

Get a courier to deliver a couple more drinks to prevent hangover stage and you could possibly bet some highway helmet for the trip home*.

*I know this isn't a realistic scenario but a man has to have these types of thoughts to stay sane.

The more Gunner says in that financial advise thread the more of an asshat he comes off as.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding this, why is being a fiduciary bad? Also, I want him to keep talking. There are surveys that say lawyers have worse people skills than engineers and we're hated. Have him post in a few more threads and at least on cyclone fanatic lawyers will at least be more popular than financial advisers

Just don't get in an accident or say goodbye to sessytimes forever

I'm kind of with you there. I mean, the job title implies "advice". I'm just not getting this whole cryptic "i know more than you do" schtick. Well, DUH - that's why I would pay a financial adviser. Fortunately for us, TIAA-CREF offers it as a free service...if I want to actually have someone MANAGE my accounts like a broker, I would have to pay for that service. Financial advice re "these are some things you're doing right - these are some things that you could do better - these are some high risk - medium risk - low risk options...

I forgot about the risk stuff - as part of the info we provided to the adviser, we (PapaLew & I) independently filled out a questionnaire to get a feel for our risk taking proclivities. No surprise to us, he's a little more willing to take risks than I am. And I basically told the adviser that no, I wouldn't have made the changes he did...but that I trusted his judgement, so I just closed my eyes & went with it. Turns out both of us did the right thing - him taking a little more risk, me agreeing to it - we're in pretty decent shape for retirement. Matter of fact, the adviser had very little that he would have done differently, so that made PapaLew pretty proud of himself. :)

The old stand-by

No I wanted her to stay. I don't know which one you're talking about. I DID fire one person and talked about it on here. She had health problems, but I don't think cancer was one of them.

sounds like I was mixing together a variety of your employees.

a lot of financial advisors will try to push things on you like high fee stocks or life insurance. I've always read that if you are going to use one, use one that is fee-based and a fiduciary. Generally, your people at like an Edward Jones type place are not going to be. They are more salesmen than advisors. So I get that part of his thread but it was still a stupid scenario. He didn't say a word about "pretend you are" whatever you were supposed to be in this case - just a 401k rep type person or an actual advisor. Like KC said in there, if he meant you to act as an advisor and only say you have options ABCD without giving pros/cons of each, what's the point?

Screw this, I am going home. Going to drag the bike out and ride the lakes.

Did you want to borrow this?
