Figured out the problems that knocked out marathon training (and really anything cardio at all) for the last few months.
Tide Color Guard. I'm apparently terribly allergic. We're rewashing laundry to make sure stuff isn't contaminated by that anymore. Now for a couple weeks of medicating this thing and getting back on stride.

Truly a first world problem, but really a nasty problem. I think that I'll breathe again soon.

is that what all your respiratory troubles were caused by?!

I went running yesterday and cooler weather + functioning lungs= two miles faster per mile. I was surprised and pleased.

Yup. That's what it looks like, and a lot of skin breakouts, too.
I'm going to see if I can get a 5k in this fall, and I'm dreaming of a half marathon in November, but that one is really iffy. Just running an entire mile will be a good thing again.

Most of the plan is focused on the Chicagoland Marathon (not the big one) in May to qualify for Boston. I'm pretty amazed and ticked that a laundry detergent can be that devastating, but I'm looking forward to building that cardio back and dropping some weight back to my good size again.

Tide Color Guard stinks for me.

I'm glad you found the root cause. How did you figure it out?

needed to aerate lawn. Been avoiding it cause we didn't know if places would do delivery of it since it can't fit in our vehicle. Once place I emailed never responded. Saw yesterday that neighbors were doing theirs. Darn. Oh well, had to mow and stuff and I was having girlfriends over and then DH was going to guys' night. Didn't really have time for that yesterday anyway.

About 3:30 one of the neighbors puts in our chat group that anyone could use the aerator they rented for the day. Yay! Poor DH had to do that then cause I was cooking and trying to get stuff ready. He had just been about to come in and shower so he could leave. I was making cookies too so I had him take cookies back with the aerator and money. The wife commented that the cookies were delicious. Yay! Later on, one of the neighbor girls brought some of the money back because "it was too much" I was like oh no, you keep this if your parents don't want it. Seriously, we had been expecting to pay for the whole thing plus delivery and such on our own. We got to split it 4 ways so it was like so much less than we had been expecting to pay.

TL: DR, making neighbor friends via cookies and cash to the kids.
SOunds like a possible swingers couple.

I'm glad you found the root cause. How did you figure it out?

I was scratching my wrist again at lunch, and I remembered that we had talked about this color guard stuff. Then it occurred to me that it just might coincide with these allergic kind of respiratory reactions I've been having off and on.

Then we started noting what we know about the times this stuff was used, and some things early in the year, and the pieces came together.

Still a 1% chance of being wrong, but this one fits the bill for everything.

I wonder if we missed our window of opportunity. Weren't we one point from the Final Four against Florida State, and then really haven't made any sort of run since?

I was at that FSU match. Golden opportunity lost in fifth set. We were actaully the better team but just didn't play that great that evening. Remember thinking at the time that we might not get this chance again. :(

Oooh, I'm in!

So we went over there for FIL's Birthday and everything was pretty good. One BIL had to leave right away for work and the other was asleep on the couch the whole time (literally the whole time. Didn't eat with us because we had Pizza and well that isn't healthy). I watched LittleWX so the rest of them could play games. So then at 6:55 one SIL says we have to leave now so we can watch Once Upon a Time so they leave. By this point their dog had already nipped at LittleWX once and my FIL rightfully put her in her kennel. For some reason she was let out and ended up doing it again (this time unprovoked). Which again made FIL grab the dog and start taking her to her kennel and saying that she is going to the pound in the morning. This made MIL and remaining SIL mad at him because they say he also made LittleWX cry. Then SIL sent storming out and then we left.

This is why i see my extended family once every 3 years. God bless being the only ones in Iowa.

Our 92 y.o. Neighbor passed away Saturday morning. Although the 1 am runs to the hospital or to just help him up were far from enjoyable, my whole family will miss him, can't find a better neighbor or person than him.

Spent a pleasant afternoon at the movies with my main squeeze.

Husband and I saw Magnificent Seven yesterday. As with most movies, we stick around for all the credits. (Not because of some bonus footage like the Marvel movies, but to show some appreciation for those behind-the-scenes people) I mentioned to him "That's probably the shortest credits I've sat through in a long time." Most of the movies we've seen in the theater recently have been of the sci-fi/fantasy type with a lot CG type stuff.

Slowly working on building up my liquor cabinet. Already got some fancy tequila an employee bought me (I'm not a tequila guy, so if anybody knows drinks, let me know. Shots don't count because I'm not 22 years old or at a bar), got some bourbon already. Bought some gin and vodka (Tanquerray makes vodka now? It was on sale at HyVee for 12 bucks, so I figured what the ****, why not?) and bought a bottle of Pinot Grigio. Not a wine guy, but figured that's probably at least a safe wine choice. Got my Rose's lime juice and some tonic and olives. Really just need some rum, a bottle of scotch, some Kahlua and maybe some Bloody Mary fixtures and I think I'm set.
If it's really good tequila, you can just sip it, maybe with a little lime. Also, it's good if you mix it with Sprite but it does need to be a really good tequila.

I've found that New Amsterdam Vodka (Gin also, however, if you like your gin to be really junipery, it isn't) offers a pretty good taste for the price.

Us too...and that was the movie we went to. I loved it. It paid homage to the original (and the original original, Seven Samurai) while still being its own movie. Fun hearing a couple of lines from the 1960 version (which I probably have close to memorized due to watching it so many times).

Teasing us with similar (but not the same) opening music was mean though! ;)

So I went running yesterday for a competition between the law school and the med school. They said it was a five k, but it was way too short since I haven't run in a year but still beat my pr from Cross country in high school by about 2 minutes and I still had the energy to sprint at the end. And then I went running tonight with a friend. I might becoming one of those runner people.

I was there also, the cool thing was we sent our pep band it really livened up the environment, everything was great about that game except the ending.

Watched Flag of our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima, both were very good movies. Wanted to see Sully but haven't made it yet.
