You can pretty much leave the "trendy" slasher ones out for me. Have not seen any of the Nightmare on Elm St, Halloween, Hills Have Eyes, Wrong Turn, Scream, Hostel, Friday the 13th, yaddayadda. Watched the first Saw because I like Cary Elwes, but none of the sequels.
Wrong Turn and Hostel I almost would consider more "torture pron" than slashers. Not my cup of tea. The Hills Have Eyes probably falls somewhere in between.

Hostel, Saw, Wolf Creek, etc are all torture porn. I'll give Hills a pass as the story isn't based solely off of it, even if it does take advantage of it in the scenes.

Sure. I think, personal preference, for me half of those, while I may find entertaining, I don't know if I could come up with any that were scary/creepy/spooky whatever. Like, there are some slasher films I enjoyed, but can't think of any that scared me.

Maybe we should start a thread about it. You, me and KC are probably the only people in the RTT interested in that.
Count me in as another fan of horror movies

What do y'all think of the "found footage" style movies, the trend that began with Blair Witch Project?

I've found it very frustrating. Some of the story-lines would be really good, but then the movie would feel like it was "written" and "recorded" (I won't say "filmed) by an 8th grade media class - with cell phone cameras. The camera work and dialogue are usually so lame that if I start watching one now, I just turn it off. I don't even give them a chance anymore.

Blair Witch freaked me out. But I may or may not have been in experimental period with pot at that time.

I thought Cloverfield was pretty good, but most of them stink. Blair Witch was probably good mostly because of the marketing behind it was genius for the time (back in the day when Internet was still pretty new and people believed a lot more on there than they do now).

Hit or miss with me. I liked REC/Quarantine, Cloverfield, Jeruzalem, As Above So Below, etc. Hated Paranormal Activity, The Gallows, and most of the ones with whiny teenagers.

Perfect gif if you're on timeout for a while and come back.
