Random Thoughts VIII: The Ocho

There's 9 CF'ers online right now, 65 guests (I'm assuming people viewing the website without being members), and of course, the ever present robots (27 of them).
FYI - I frequently leave it on at home, even when I'm not there. Even the "9" online can be misleading.

Super humid and sticky out. Need to roll out for a bike ride before heat index starts climbing close to 100.

Pants, if I heat stroke and die this afternoon tell my sister I said it was okay if you and Reilly live in my house while it goes through probate. That will probably take a year. Recipe for rhubarb custard pie is in the drawer under the cutting board. Keys to my cars are in the dresser. Wine "cellar" access is through the laundry room under the stairs.
The rhubard recipe alone may be worth the approximately 10 mile drive plus driving up and down every street in Golden Valley to find the correct house.

There is enough scotch in the cabinet to at least kick it off as a proper RTT wake for the late BoxsterCy.

One thing is for certain, nobody in this crew is wasting a bottle of perfectly good alcohol by pouring it on your grave. You may get a plate of rhubarb crisp, though.
I'm not wasting the rhubarb crisp either (it looks delicious). Maybe some bicycle grease and some of the pop Boxster's been trying not to drink. Of course, depending upon what's in the liquor cabinet, I may not pour any pop on the grave if it would make for an appropriate mixer.

I really, really should get my MIL's bday card in the mail so it will be there by Friday. But it is SO oppressive out that just the thought of a 5-10 minute drive with no air makes me wilt.

I'm sure she'd understand. Just give her a Happy Belated Birthday high five next time you see her.

I started off my day dropping my water bottle and splashing it all over the floor. It didn't help that it was really hot.

Good luck to Papalew on the interview.
Thunderstorm just started. The rain will be welcome and hopefully it breaks the heat and humidity a bit.

I did the right thing and got the card in the mail. But the mental pic of giving her a HBD fist bump is quite funny.

Wait for it...

Waaaaaait for it....

FAIL!

;)

Bad news on Pants' Labor Day party, I did not die. Not even that close. Heat index was only 94 and the strong winds were a bear but when they blew across the lakes they were actually a little cooling.

25 miles and only one ride award. Was cruising down the big hill getting close to home when I saw a family of four struggling up the hill into the wind (ack), a dad and three little kids. I stopped to give them more room. This little girl on a little kids bike was leading them. Had her game face on, her mouth open, tongue hanging out and pedaling for all it was worth. I was impressed. She gets the Trooper Award!

so my MIL sends a card every year. Couple times it's been a day or so late and she'll apologize for that in the card. It's cool, not a big deal. They tend to be pretty big on recognizing events and we've gotten flack through the grapevine for when DH has forgotten to call on one of their birthdays. This year, no card ever arrived but I did get a text..................a full week later. That said they hoped I was having a great day....clearly implying that today was my birthday and not a week earlier. I was like, DH, my birthday hasn't moved in the 10 years they've known me.......what happened here?!?! He had no idea.

Your random toddler update:

I asked Z if she wanted to go to x resturaunt for her birthday.
M: do you want to go to place 1?
Z: no. It is burnt.
M: how about place 2?
Z: it's burnt too.
M: It's burnt too?
Z: yes, I burnt it.
M: Place 3?
Z: no, I ate it.

I guess no resturaunt is safe from her. I have no idea why she said she burnt them.
