CG--look up the Iowa Girl Eats blog. She usually has good recipes and had to go gluten free after she had a baby (she basically became gluten intolerant). I think she has some recipes that are dairy free too.

I think I've seen her blog before, I will check that out. Peanut/shellfish guy doesn't come to girls' night things so I can get around that one most of the time. But right before friend found this out, I was thinking our next girls' night that I host will be Italian night and I'll make lasagna. Welp. I was joking about it and friend is like you can still do that! I'll just eat beforehand. I'm like that is terrible and I'd be a terrible friend if I did that to you. I think fajitas, chili, or my beloved Chinese pepper steak would be other options.

Mint.Com, you can link in your financial accounts (credit cards, 401k, etc.) and use it to track your spending and saving. You can set up goals to progress toward as well. I've used it for about 4 years now and really like it. They use the same security measures as banks.

Right now I'm like 14 years behind on my retirement goal, ha.

We met with TIAA/CREF about a month ago, and then again about a week ago after they had time to look at our numbers and give us pointers on what to do better when managing our retirement accounts. We came away from it with two key pieces of knowledge:
1 - Despite no financial training, PapaLew has done an excellent job with our accounts, and has kept them very close to what they would have been if we had a financial advisor.
2 - If I decide to hang it up early, we wouldn't lose the house (didn't think we could pay mortgage AND medical).

And a third one...he told us his assistant came to him with a question - do your clients know they have more money they could spend per month? I guess we're markedly cheaper in our spending habits than we thought. :)

ideas for something to take to a football party thing on Sunday? Prefer no nuts, shellfish, dairy, or gluten.

And yep, between two people, they have real allergies/intolerances to all of those. I'd be like whatevs if they were fake gluten-free, but friend was told by her doctor based on her family history and her current issues that she should cut out both. She haz a sad. We discussed that wine is still ok, so that's good.

I was thinking of just grabbing some chips, a thing of salsa, and then a thing of queso and putting that in our little mini crockpot thing that I've never used.

You should do those bacon wrapped lil' smokies that I found. They are addictive, and really easy to make. :)

The way you worded it made it seem like you were going to combine the two in the crockpot.

No, no! I'll put the queso in the crockpot and keep the salsa in a separate bowl.

Beer

So I think work has been adding lots of stuff to the no access list recently since I had to get them to fix their blocking of a site I use eeeeeeeeeeeeeeevery single day for work and is very important for me and everyone else to keep using it, and your link is apparently blocked as well. Trying to get me to click on pron?

Is it a specific recipe or just like the one I see on allrecipes?

This line from the directions.........I'm just giggling at it.

I posted it in here for Rulzzz a couple of weeks ago.

Ingredients
1 pound Bacon, Cut Into Thirds
1 pound Lil’ Smokies (small sausages)
1 stick Butter
2 cups Brown Sugar

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375F.
2. Cut the bacon into thirds and wrap each smokie.(small sausage)
3. Place all the wrapped smokies in a single layer in a baking dish.
4. Then melt the stick of butter and then 1 cup of brown sugar and stir until mixed well.
5. Pour the butter and brown sugar mixture on the smokies and bacon.
6. Then take the other cup of brown sugar and sprinkle evenly over the smokies.
7. Bake them for about 15-20 minutes and then turn the heat up to 400F for about 5 minutes or longer until the bacon becomes crispy.

I reduced the butter & brown sugar the second time I made them (there's a lot of waste with the full recipe). You also may need to bake a little longer to get the bacon crispy.

so what's the difference between these and ones that are in some kind of sauce in a crockpot? I've never made any of these type of lil smokie things before.

BTW: I think the person who wrote out the recipe has a limited grasp of English...and it wasn't me...

Always, it is redbridge beer. I have never tried it but my brother's BIL decided that he needed to be gluten free for like a week and got this and thought it was good.

Funny story: He once tried to order gluten free breakfast sandwiches from Panera. He also asked Taco Bell for a gluten free menu (same weekend).

Just midget porn, so it doesn't really count.

Ugh, broke down and got a cherry vanilla coke from Sonic (first pop in a long time). Now I've got some weird caffeine induced headache. I've had caffeine withdrawal headaches before when I broke myself of the soda habit, but this is a new twist I wasn't anticipating.
