I love angry emails in the morning. I knew they would be there. Somebody wanted something approved but the person(s) here who needed to do so, hadn't given me an answer and were out most of the week on business. Granted, person did start asking 3-4 weeks ago, but not much I could do about it other than put in reminders on the request. Turns out on our side, some discussions were going on and in the end what they wanted was ok, but somebody couldn't find the documentation stating that was so. So things got held up but I wasn't told what was going on. In the interim, I sent a "it's on hold, I'll let you know as soon as I know more" email. I got a couple emails that were pretty "why are you doing this" and "you need to do this now! We need to call and have a discussion with you."

Well, first of all, I don't report to you, so no, I'm not having a discussion with you about the reasons it's not approved. I am literally the messenger. I do not approve them, I do not disprove them, I simply ask for approval on the request and send it on to another party if it is. Gah. I'm really hoping I can get person on our side to send an email saying 'for future reference, Cowgirl is just the facilitator on this requests. She is not involved with the approval. So if there are questions as to why it has not been approved/partially approved/whatever, please include those emails to me as well."

You have this management thing all wrong. Why would they throw themselves into the line of fire if they have you already doing it.

no real kickball story tonight. I looked and someone went in and changed our game from last week - it's a forfeit now. We were up tonight 5-0, then let it get tied 6-6 going into the 7th. Our captain guy is like "we need to score". So DH led off. Then I kicked and got on. Then the guy behind got on. We all scored plus another person, so it ended up 10-6, so that was cool. I was out, out, 1st, score for my at-bats, but I moved DH every time. And DH scored for each of his at-bats. In fact, the two outs for me, he actually got to third because they chased me down with the ball, so he kept running. Productive out, at least.
Did you intentionally put yourself in the order behind DH so that you could watch him run around the bases from behind? I know that when we used to play softball I preferred to bat behind Mrs. JC (Miss JB at that time). I felt less guilty watching her run from behind than watching the other gals on the team. I would still watch them but I felt less guilty watching Miss JB run. Yes. Men are pigs.

You know, I'm so focused on my own running that I actually don't. Plus it's kind of all the wrong angles to be able to watch him run. It's not like he's in my line of vision as I'm running, you know? It'd be a nice bonus if I could see him though ;P I think I got put there because I am decent at getting on base or at least moving the kicker (I don't pop the ball straight up for an easy catch) and DH is probably the best kicker on the team.

Sounds like you'd be a better number two hitter than what most MLB teams have.

Work in my office is gonna come to a dead stop this afternoon when the Royals come on. Effort levels will drop to the point that I don't even think the normal offenders are going to pretend to work.

I know this isn't a popular opinion, but Hickory Park is very average in terms of barbecue. It's good, but I definitely don't go out of my way to eat there when I come back.

We mainly frequent there because to feed a family of 6 you used to be able to eat cheaper at Hickory Park than at Culver's. They did recently raise prices some, so that doesn't necessarily hold true any more. Also one of the easier places to get in with large groups so is popular when we have family come to town. It is also loud so I don't feel bad if my kids are loud. But they are perfect, quiet angels when we go out to eat. ;)

I think we've discussed this before. A lot of families go there for the prices and variety. I do like their hamburgers and chicken strips (share with Z still). Not to mention their dessert menu.

Thinking of kids and restaurants, we have started to encourage Z not to want to go walking. It's a pretty big challenge right now. She's too big for the highchair (yay!) and we can mitigate some of the energy by getting a booth and letting her run on the seat. She does not like the loudness of HP though.

I know we sometimes rag on grandparents, so here is a nice thing: One asked how I felt about carving a pumpkin or coloring one before doing it. :)
