That got my dog's attention. Anytime there's a mention of moo-cows she's at the window growling and ready to get 'em.

I hate when I have to wait in my parking garage in the morning for someone to take 3 minutes to BACK their car into a parking spot just right. Apparently my time is so worthless that I have nothing better to do than to sit there and wait for them so that they can get out of their parking spot 15 seconds faster when they leave work. I would love to just ram into the side of their car and drive off.
For you farmers - why did old barns have gambrel roofs but newer barns or out buildings don't? What changed?
This is entirely a guess.
It probably gave them more room for the hay mow. Now that they just have those huge rolls there's no reason to store them up there.
Equipment not powerful enough to either make the bales well or efficiently move them.
...although I would really get a kick out of seeing some amish pulling a round baler on steel wheels with a 4 horse hitch.

we put ours in plastic wrap now which I'm pretty sure didn't exist then plus we have nice machines that do that for us now. Though like 00clone, I'm pondering the image of horses being used to handle that.
I don't think any of the newer barns have hay mows now, they'd just build a separate shed. Probably smarter too, don't kill all the cows when the barn catches on fire from wet hay.
I like dogs, but after the boxer we have right now I think my family is done with being pet owners for at least a little while. But don't tell my wife. That conversation hasn't happened yet.
Yep. I went to bed at midnight last night and still up at 5:30 for no reason at all. You would think that with all that extra time I'd be more productive, but no. Unless you consider upping your post count on CF a productive use of time.
