Catholic families + one set of divorced and remarried parents + heavy involvement in dairy industry + partialparental payment(so parents get to have input on guest list). It was originally at 700 and they cut it down. I think there were 400 actually there.

In my opinion, then they get a set number of guests to invite.

700?!?!?! Just...wut.

true story, someone showed up to my wedding in jorts and a denim shirt with cut-off sleeves. It was definitely not a jorts wedding, lol.

These.

Well I think you just need to put on your snazziest jorts in that case! :jimlad:

wait a minute, you have a wife, why aren't you asking her? Or did she already tell you no shorts and you're trying to outvote her?

My wife actually gave me the thumbs up to wear the shorts. And the groom of the wedding said I could wear shorts too.

I'm using my CF buddies to confirm this choice because I'm wavering on my decision. I'm like 90% sure I'm going to wear the shorts but some of you guys are making me rethink the shorts idea.

Yep. Maybe this German leader isn't a complete psychopath and doesn't spend resources and effort to eradicate 6 million people. Maybe he wouldn't be dumb enough to try and fight a war on two fronts and attack Russia in the winter. The result might have been better for the Jewish people, but may have been WAY worse for all of Europe and the rest of the world.

So let's switch it up completely (by the way, I murder the **** out of baby Hitler in a heartbeat).

Let's say you have two buttons. You HAVE to push one. If you push the one on the left, someone you love dies. Parent, spouse, child, whatever have you. Someone very close that you love deeply. If you push the one on the right, ten people you've never met in your life die. Which button do you push?

I went to a wedding this weekend. Pretty much everyone who went to the ceremony was dressed appropriately, but at the reception a large group of dudes in shorts and t-shirts showed up.

At what wedding is it cool to show up with a backwards flat brimmed hat on? Seriously? And this was a direct relation to the bride.

I've thought about that too. I don't think Hitler really caused the situation as much as the situation was set up for a person like Hitler to gain control. Germany was in a bad place after WWI and all the various political tensions and economic struggles made it a prime opportunity for someone to take charge - Germany so badly wanted to feel proud as a country again. Hitler comes in and tells them to blame it on the Jews, Gypsies, and anyone else not pure Aryan. I honestly think he could have said to blame just about anyone and they would have been pulled into it because they wanted to believe anything in that regard. Where's Erik to comment when you need him?

So I think with or without a Hitler, there would have been a WWII. I mean, he wasn't really doing anything to stir up China and Japan. They were doing that all by themselves.

I remember having a friend read the first few chapters of Hitler's Mein Kampf They had to stop because it made sense so far.

Wasn't this the basis for a movie? Next would be the Purge. Participate or not?

I would never have to give that permission because hubby never EVER wears shorts in public. He's a redhead (or was...now it's mostly grey) with a redhead's complexion. His legs seriously glow in the dark. He's the only guy I've ever known who wears jeans when he waterskis...

I'm oldfashioned on the shorts at a wedding thing. But my first thought about the bolded phrase above was "I hope he checked with the bride first". It has been my experience that women (specifically the bride & her mother & future mother in law) are more concerned about every little detail of a wedding than the men are.

Without hesitation: the one on the right.

Not going to push one. Just shoot me.

I've talked it over with some ladies here where I work and their first question for me is, "Are you in the wedding?" I am not in the wedding, I am just a guest.

My follow up question for you then is, will the bride/bride's mother/bride's mother-in-law care that a guest is wearing shorts? That would be a pretty tiny detail to be worried about.

I remember having a friend read the first few chapters of Hitler's Mein Kampf They had to stop because it made sense so far.

His philosophy in regards to rebuilding and developing the country were very similar to FDR's New Deal. He was a genius too. Just unfortunate there was a lot of crazy in there.

yeah I would hope he checked with the bride as well. As the bride, I might look twice at nice shorts but it wouldn't be a "can you believe that guy" type of thing. Unless they were jorts!

I just wouldn't ever let DH wear shorts to a wedding. Sounds like you have the right approvals though, so you're probably fine.
