Hack old man biker doesn't really need $100 Pearl Izumi or Louis Garneau jerseys. Or worse, race team jerseys while biking 15-16 mph would have people laughing at me. Would be like driving around in a Accord while wearing a Maserati cap.

The nice thing about this site is they have everything from top end to more reasonable priced and more modest brands. I don't buy a whole bunch of high end stuff.* I used to just watch their sale items and find stuff that was pretty cheap but is a more of middle of the road product line. I am a little more careful about going bargain basement on the shorts, though. It is all about the chamois!

*I think the word I am struggling to to put my finger on when describing myself is "cheap".

If you ever get a chance to go see Bond Falls in the UP of Michigan, go. You'll be glad you did. (It's where I proposed to the vixen, so there's a lot of good luck there.)
Looks awesome.

What was nice about Willow Falls is that you can interact with the falls. There were people - including little kids - climbing all over them. Not my pic but off the interwebs:

It wasn't quite this extreme when we were there maybe because it was partly cloudy and about 72 degrees.

45min in and we're hitting the road to the next apartment. Good God they're good at this.

Never moving myself again

Spoke too early. The moving truck got hit by someone running a red light real late. Couple broken glasses but everything else seems scratch free so far. Can't believe all 6 TVs made it. They sent another crew to switch trucks and everything.

Took a couple more hours than expected because of the mishap but still only charged me the regular cost.

Great moving company. Would work with again.

Wanted to bike this afternoon but too many scattered mini's out there. Not really that trackable in advance as they are kinda forming up locally and not rolling in from afar.

Now the weather gods are just messin' with me. Bright and sunny (albeit windy as hell) and a butterfly just fluttered by on my deck.

If you climb up the side of Bond Falls (either side), there are lots of chances to interact. It goes up a long, long way.

I assume their insurance is handling any losses. You shouldn't have to deal with insurance (or deductible) for their auto accident.

all right Minny peeps - looks like a visit is happening. Either the last week of Sept or third weekend of Oct. Middle two out because BIL/SIL are traveling. I'm like dang, best fall color weekends knocked out. My guess is the end of Sept is probably better weather wise and maybe you guys have some color by then being up in the tundra and all.

Think the idea is we'll drive up at bedtime. Not sure about the way back. I'm thinking maybe split it into a day trip and drive some AM, then stop somewhere to do a hike or explore or something and then try to get the rest during naptime. IDK, this hopefully won't be a disaster.

How about visiting your fav N Iowa RTT'er and see Sadie and Emma and we can see LM?

This post reminded me of an article I read about Robin Williams and his bike and cycling addiction* - definitely not a poseur.

Ignore the references to Lance Armstrong before being exposed. Still a good read about a man who loved cycling and had the means to indulge.

https://www.bicycling.com/news/a20032466/robin-williams-cyclist-im-lucky-to-have-bikes-in-my-life/

*Probably not a coincidence that his cycling addiction started right when he tackled his addiction to drugs.

It probably isn't far enough into your return trip, but last weekend we went to Willow River State Park (WI) and hiked from the lake (not a lake right now; drained for dam repairs) to the falls. The falls are definitely worth it.

But as I said, it is right on MN/WI border so probably not far enough into your return trip for the leg stretch.

I think a return trip(s) as babe gets older will be in order!

15-16 mph? That's about where I'm at when I ride, so you're not the only "slow" one!

Where I grew up there was a really nice waterfall in the woods on power company land (or maybe water company) we knew how to find it and would climb the fence to get to it. Great place to hang out and fish when we were kids. I think I caught one small fish in all the times I tried.

Photographer was out of dates for family photos so emailed a second one (we've worked with both) and then the first replied that she was going to open up another day and it's one we're free. Perfect!

But now the 2nd one says she's really full but will work with me. IDK how to respond. Maybe I'll give it overnight to make sure we actually secure a spot with the first. But the 2nd one is really good too and we might like a bit better. Pricing is structured a bit differently which favors the 1st in this particular case where we only want rights to a few photos vs. all. Blah. Got myself into a pickle now.

The Iowa Egg Council gives away free hard boiled eggs on a stick in the Ag Building at the ISF. Not a bad pick-me-up if you're low on cash and energy.

*Googles TSwift's height and sees she's 5'10"*

We work with some people from India. At our team building outing to the fair, I told one of them that they gave away free HB eggs at that building. He didn't believe me, so I took him there. He ate three.

Just tell 2nd photog that you were looking at more than one and the other offered a spot and you took it before 2nd responded.

Not exactly sure.
We get them every year we are there and Mrs. Velo's family has gotten them even longer. I don't know how long they have been giving them away but I'm pretty sure it has been longer than 20 years. They are always quite cold and I have never heard of them having a problem with food safety. They have the system down to a science.

Minnesota is still giving out frozen eggs on a stick. Means you people are still eating eggciciles.

BC's a better man than me. I was not drinking Jack Daniels from the bottle as a freshman. Also, I was never man enough to get a perm but I did let my sister curl the back part of my hair a couple times in high school. Never in college. My hair was too short.

As a freshman it was Yukon Jack from the bottle. I moved to mostly Jim Beam later and occasionally black jack.

I could handle nearly anything. Wild Irish Rose was a battle though.
