Haha! Jerking the chicken!

I think your wife and I could get along.

Actually, the jokes are more like this:

"Oh, look, a Caribbean Jerk making Caribbean jerk"

"You're pretty good at this recipe. Guess jerk is in your blood."

"How do you know about Caribbean jerk? Guess it takes one to know one."

Huh. Not what I was thinking, but I can still dig it.

I was reading an article on the CNN website about a body being stolen from a funerary home. Name of the funeral director? **** Tips. No, seriously. **** Tips.

Let me preface by saying I love Indian food. However, 3 weeks of it is enough. Worst thing about it? No pork. My wife's family is Christian, so they are not vegetarians. They eat beef, chicken, fish, duck, goat, etc. For some odd reason, no pork. I need some pork chops, pork loin roast, fried pork, etc. Pork chops on Wednesday for sure.

We know your mind is always in the gutter

I thought it was Catholics that didn't do pork?

I could be 100 percent wrong there, though.

Islam: no pork
Catholics: used to be no meat on Fridays other than fish. Now I think it's only on Fridays during Lent. Disclaimer - I'm not Catholic so I don't know this for a fact.
Hindu: kinda yeah, kinda no on beef, pork. Not strictly forbidden, per se, but abstaining from eating flesh puts you on a higher plane spiritually, so to speak.

I'm no authority either - this is just things I have picked up from knowing people from different cultures.

I thought you were a God-fearing man. I think the Bible says something against shower beers.

I'm pretty sure he made shower beers on the 8th day. After the rest, he was like...okay, got the important stuff made, now, lets give 'em something awesome.

Yep, wrong. Jews and Muslims don't eat pork (cloven hooves), Hindus don't eat beef. Catholics eat anything (really, pretty much all christians eat everything, that was part of the new testament). Now, Catholics do generally fast on Fridays during lent, meaning we're essentially pescatarians. (no meat, fish okay)

It is down pouring right now. Kuhio is even flooded, which is crazy because it's probably the busiest road in Waikiki. There's even lightening and thunder, for the first time since I've moved here. It doesn't sound like I'm used to hearing in the Midwest. It's more like something heavy being dragged across a wood floor or something. It's weird. I'm slightly worried.

i think the no meat on friday rule changed during that one conference in the 1960s to modernize Catholicism... like stop having masses only in latin... etc. When my parents were kids it was no meat on any Friday.

Are you on the ground floor? Did you move your car to high ground? A couple of weeks ago we had a big rain come thru river went from way low to bank full then back to sandbars in less then 12 hours. glad I wasn't river camping that night.

Right, Vatican II. Although, our catholic school never did meat on Fridays, but that was probably a budget thing.
