this. you told the truth and it sounds like a wake up call is what this guy needs vs a cover-up.
he was reported multiple times for showing up drunk from his boss, per her. She said he was probably getting fired anyways even if I didn't snitch on him for not doing his job properly. I probably made the timeline way quicker than it was, but from hearing her it was bound to happen anyways.
so the choice to go running in mid-80s and 70 dew point was not among the best. I did drown a bug in boob/chest sweat so that was impressive.
This is also why I won't let friends/family work together and why I don't become friends with my co-workers or employees. Friends will always ultimately try to take advantage of you at work at some point in some way, and that's not fair to you, them, or the company you work for.
Even if it was a test of you, I don't see anything good from telling you it was a test....I mean, admittedly, there's a lot of things that we don't know, but I just don't see how telling you you were being tested for honestly/loyalty is a good thing for a leader to do. There have been times (a very few) when I was a manager that I asked a question knowing what the employee should answer to see what they would answer...but it's not something I'd make a habit of, and it's not something I'd ever tell an employee, because it's usually done from a position where I'm questioning their honesty or something already.
I wish it were more exciting. I got back and a gnat type bug was right above the neckline of my shirt all soaked in sweat. So it drowned like vertically. Guess I had that much sweat running down me. He hit and drowned in running sweat.
I'm friendly to my co-workers, but they're just people to me. Whether they're there the next day is of no real consequence to me.
Quite frankly, I don't see any advantage to her saying anything that she said. She was probably trying to comfort him by telling him that stuff, but all it sounds like to me is a weak attempt at not making him feel bad about doing it when, in reality, he shouldn't be feeling bad about doing the right thing in the first place. Sounds like she's a pretty ****** manager, personally.
Which is kind of the approach you should have. I prefer to get along with my co-workers, but I don't need to go have a beer with them. And my employees are kind of the same. It's easier when people get along, but I'm not going to avoid issues or hurt myself or my business to try to accommodate them.
thanks for the posts guys, I appreciate it. I am applying for another job that works nights so probably going to switch jobs. Have never worked nights before but I'm a night owl so it should work better. Waking up at 5 am every morning sucks ***.
So my boss was trying to talk up one of the new people in the region by talking about how great his numbers were in his old region. I almost tripled my budgeted bottom line number. 555k over budget. Next closest in the entire company was 277k over budget. This dude was 45k over budget. I'm just sitting back on that call like, "Jessica Nigri, please."
