Which is kind of the approach you should have. I prefer to get along with my co-workers, but I don't need to go have a beer with them. And my employees are kind of the same. It's easier when people get along, but I'm not going to avoid issues or hurt myself or my business to try to accommodate them.

Yeah, so a guy that works where I work that bought a house a few blocks away from me. Said something about stopping over and saying hi, and how we were going to have to start having block parties, and I'm like...yeah, I don't really do that. Doesn't help his case that he's a major goober, but even if he weren't...no.

So my boss was trying to talk up one of the new people in the region by talking about how great his numbers were in his old region. I almost tripled my budgeted bottom line number. 555k over budget. Next closest in the entire company was 277k over budget. This dude was 45k over budget. I'm just sitting back on that call like, "Jessica Nigri, please."

That you, Obama?

I would say yes, but other people will disagree. The only reason he got a job in the first place was that I was already working there (boss said that today). I was picking him up today and he walked outside clearly drunk and told me to tell them that he was really sick instead. He is a really heavy drinker, and has shown up at work drunk every day he was working there.

I go into the boss' office to talk about pay and she asks why he didn't show today. I came out and told her about his drinking problem. I couldn't risk getting myself fired along with him and she told me everyone noticed and that she was seeing if she could trust me. I think I made the right move but he deserved it. I'm a patient guy but he was really pushing it as I have covered him from trouble multiple times.

Think I'm going to work somewhere else anyways. Had a job I wanted today that was basically doubling my pay call and say thanks but no thanks. Some depression is coming in that I haven't had since the past, doing better this evening.

Gave you a "like" not because I really liked your situation, obviously, but because you did the right thing. Not your decision to fire him, they could have suspended him to get help etc.

No block parties? Guess we aren't moving to your neighborhood?

sigh, DH. His family is coming up tomorrow for something and he asked if I'm free. I'm truly not, but then he said that "she's going to watch the Bachelorette with friends".

DH, seriously. Just say she was going to a thing with friends. Because that's what I'm doing. I don't even care about the show but I care about making friends. And your parents already think I'm an avoider so let's not go with "she'd rather go watch a trashy reality show than see you."

Stalking our neighborhood a bit and a VP at DH's company is two houses down the street. Welp, guess I need to play it more normal now :jimlad:

It's ok though, it's a different part of the business so he doesn't report into them at all.
