Pantsy, to paraphrase KC:

Look man, you can listen to Jimi but you can't hear him. There's a difference man. Just because you're listening to him doesn't mean you're hearing him.

Hey man! I can hear Jimi! Don't tell me I can't hear Jimi!

BTW - Jimi and I have the same initials and the same middle name!

I think this is true, and also part of the times...Hendrix's free-wheeling "holy crap, how did he do that" fit better with the late '60s and '70's than Clapton's "technical perfection" as you put it.

Remembering everything that was going on at the time, I still get chills when I hear his Woodstock rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner:

Play it at home, not work. It's meant to be cranked to the max. :)

But do you ever wonder what Hendrix would be like if he was around as long as Clapton? And sometimes, passion is better than technically perfect.

If I want passion, I'm going with Stevie Ray Vaughn over Hendrix. Don't get me wrong, Hendrix is a top 3 mainstream guitar player, but if I'm debating which top 2 is number one, Hendrix isn't in the conversation.

You lived through the 60's and actually remember it? Interesting

Love Stevie. Hendrix is just different. Probably because he was gone too soon. What we have from Jimi just resonates differently.

While Clapton is technically fantastic he just lacks something for me.

Something fun I stumbled across. We all sing along with Bohemian Rhapsody (admit it - you KNOW you do)...but are we singing the right words?

I got 24 out of 26. Should have been 25 but I accidentally clicked a totally wrong answer. Boo... :(

I already aced that quiz before. After watching Waynes World I realized my brother had a bunch of Queen CDs. I borrowed the crap out of those right away.

I remember the 60s. I just don't remember what I had for lunch yesterday.

BTW - I was 14 when Woodstock happened. I wasn't there; I just remember it from the news, and the radio. I do remember specific events from the 60s:
The bad stuff: JFK, MLK & RFK assassinations, Kent State, a war correspondent in Viet Nam getting shot in the leg on camera...
And the good stuff: the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, Neil Armstrong stepping out onto the moon, the Smothers Brothers Comedy hour & Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. If you ever want to see how Goldie Hawn got her big break in showbiz, watch Laugh-In.

Very interesting....

but stupid.

I watched Nick at Night all the time as a kid. I loved all those old shows.

Grilled cheese is incomplete without tomato soup. I will eat it without but the whole time I will be wondering what I am going to dip it in without my delicious cheap *** Campbell's tomato.
