Does unca rulzzz at least get to play the drinking version? Maybe give the girl sparkling apple juice or something?
rest of gifts wrapped, hour of working out done, taco dip for one event made, lasagna ready for another, some dishes done, most gifts in car, laundry in dryer, and packing started.

hah...such a good little busy beaver...I'm on the downhill slide...Got up at 7-ish to put the ham in the oven, kiddos unwrapped the presents at 8. Started the potato gratin at 10:30, family started coming at 11:15 ish. Cracked first bottle of wine at 11:45. Lunch at noonish, unwrapped family presents at some random afternoon hour (stopped looking at clock after lunch was served, cause I was cooking...off the clock after that). Family left at 3:30 ish (still off the clock). Mrs. reheated leftovers while I played with kiddos and new toys (no snow, so pulled them in the sled around the basement carpet). I did dishes while she's giving baths.
I mean, we're going northeast tomorrow, but all preparations are done except packing, so I'm still chill. Thought I was going to be disappointed earlier when Mrs. said she was taking off her leggings, but then she switched to yoga pants, so I was like...even trade.
guyz, contract is submitted. Granted, they still have to send us a signed copy before it's legit, but things are rolling now. Ahhhhhhh!
That would give CG a reduced sense of accomplishment by treating such an important thing as their first house with the appropriate level of obsession and planning and overthinking.
I mean, because neither of us get off on that level of insanity, my wife and I bought 2 houses by looking at different ones and then deciding that "Yep, this one will work", but that willy-nilly, fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants risk taking is not for everyone.
So you're saying the fact that she demands to be picking even the brand name of the concrete being poured may be overkill?
Dude, shut up....contractor will get the house done, that's for CG and Mr. Cowgirl to worry about down the road a ways when things start sinking/cracking.
My mid-childhood home's basement was poured in January...of course, that was a freakishly mild winter (no full frost yet in January), and the contractor said he had never poured one in January before, but I'm sure it'll be okay.
*edit....dang near forgot...there was significant cracking of the basement floor later on.

I'm gonna have to crunch some numbers next week, but I think I got enough Christmas cash to buy the 3d printer I've been eyeballing. Well, not the exact one, but one that can be upgraded later on.
So some of the talk at last night's family gathering was about how one cousin of my husband's is "finally" getting married in March. (Mid 30's, had been with her bf for a few years) The youngest cousin of the family was also there (24), and she's been with her boyfriend for about 2-3 years. The thought occurred that she would be the next one to "get hitched". I log into FB after getting home, and YEP! She just got engaged today.
