Well tried a experiment today cherry-rhubarb pie. I have a good cherry pie recipe so I just doubled the sweetner and doubled the thickener to make up for the extra moisture in the rhubarb. Will report later how it turns out in the oven right now it smells good for what it is worth.

Well, this is entertaining.
Lew's computer was about 6 years old and slow as molasses, and I had been nagging him to buy a new one instead of always complaining about how slow his was. Soooo, our youngest finally got in on the nagging, and convinced Lew to let him build one for him (he's done it a number of times). All well and good...but when Lew set it up here, and attached his TV+monitor to it, half of his icons were over off the left side of the screen, and no amount of tweaking between the two of them got it to work. So off we go yesterday to BB for a new monitor for him. We decided that we both wanted double monitors, so we got a tv/monitor and a monitor for him, and a second monitor for me. My setup worked perfectly. His, on the other hand...not so much. We were watching a DVD (yes...we still have DVDs!) while he was setting up, and all of the sudden the tv goes to a smart TV screen for VUDU, then to a screen that says there's no internet connection. When I used the TV remote to change the input back to the right setting for the DVD player, and then used the DVD remote to restart the movie, it messed with his new monitor. Yikes!

He's over there farting around with it now. I'm just laughing internally...

I talked to my Dad last night regarding him and his siblings selling the farm that's been in our family since 1916. Essentially he was strong armed into selling it. He's really broken up about it and his siblings won't listen to him because they are still treating him like he's a little kid since there is about a 10 year gap between him and his other siblings. It was tough to listen to him vent about it.

Happy National Donut Day!!

I suck at tech so I feel Lew's pain.

I was in Marion for an anniversary party with my mom. Coming home I was going to take the route we took my sister to UNI on, which was through Parkersburg. I didn’t know 20 had been moved (hadn’t went that way since my sister went to college) and the map my mom had was 20 years old. Was confused with 20 because of it not being where it used to be, but ended up staying on it and not rerouting back to go through Parkersburg. Got to 20/35 intersection and grabbed gas, wife called me to see if I could go back because her parents had weathered the storm in a bar cooler (with either Poppins or Christofferson) and their car was destroyed. Turned out the wife’s cousin could pick them up since they were all at a graduation party. One day that bad info was lucky for me.

It was Chelsea Poppens. IIRC she does not talk about it.

KC's post reminds me I DO need to order a new confuser for my sit down workstation. My laptop is just mostly my internet browser and the confuser in the den is the one with "work" software, printer and scanner. The old thing is still on Windows 10 and crazy glitchy on startup. Keep thinking I should reinstall but it's old and it would be better to just get a new one.

Was driving down from Minnesota to NE Iowa that day. Got south of Decorah and stopped and pulled over because sky looked crazy bad. While I was stopped a gust front blew through and was tossing gravel across the road and actually blow some of it into Das Audi. Car was rocking some. Did a U-turn and highballed it back north to Decorah to wait it out. Didn't know at the time but what I was looking at south and west was all part of that big storm ****.
If Das Audi is rocking, don't come knocking.

Just got a call from an old ISU buddy. Had big heart attack last night and in hospital in DSM Complicated by him testing positive for COVID after he got there. Was actually with his doctor when he had it or he won't have made it. He lives alone like I do. If that sort of thing happens at home you aren't going to make it. Sort of sobering for us living alone peeps.

Kinda like how I'll always remember the date of my first day of HS because tornado.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990_Plainfield_tornado

P.S. - Did not realize this tornado was classified as an EF5 until I was getting the Wiki link.

I can look up the date of the HS golf tournament I was playing in the day the F-5 hit Charles City, May 15, 1968. Remember playing in the rain and watching the skies. Had old leather grips and couldn't hang on for crap.

My parents are still using the 13 year old HP laptop they bought me when I graduated high school.
