Oh, sorry. I just read your post at the top of the page and didn't realize you were (kind of) responding to an earlier one. Today has been quite a Monday for me, and yes, that's what I mean. Still have 259 messages in my in box, and it's starting to thunder again. Probably no Art Walk in Ames tonight, although more rain would be nice.I mean I got out of meteorology because of the math but 2023-2008 is 15 years since I graduated.
Today is the 50th anniversary of my graduation from high school.
Wow...
I went to a 35 year reunion. I have no idea if there were any others. It was the same weekend as the ISU at UCONN football game so I decided to make a weekend of it as it was maybe an hour south of HartfordSo just out of curiosity when was the last class reunion you went to? I don't think my class even has them. I think they tried a couple maybe 5 and 10 then it just disappeared. LOL.
I went to the 10th with my ex. 20th, single (I had just started dating Lew). 30ty & 40th with him in tow. Not going to the 50th. They chose October, and the specific day they chose is the one that Lew & I happen to be flying home from Hawai'i. I wasn't planning to attend anyway unless they made it something like a resort trip or cruise or something. I got too bored at the last one watching everyone get drunk & brag about themselves. So just out of curiosity when was the last class reunion you went to? I don't think my class even has them. I guess I'm at 20 yrs since HS. That makes me feel old (relatively speaking).
Same. Got a notification about there being a HS reunion this year.
They scheduled it on the same day as the first football game.
Just guessing FB wins?
I went to 10. It was kind of a bust, but it was good to see a few friends. On the way home I saw a biplane following the same highway as me and thought it was pretty cool. I watched it land at an airport not far away so I got off at the next exit and backtracked so I could maybe see it up close on the ground. I went up to it and a guy came out of the hangar and we started talking. After about 3 minutes he said, "You want to go up?" Did I ever! I ran back to my car and got my leather jacket out of the trunk and there was my camera in the pocket. Just before we went up he said, that the headset he was giving me didn't work so he would just waggle the stick when I could take it. We went up and I got a few pics then he waggled the stick so I eased around the town we were over a couple of times then he took the stick back and landed us. It was the highlight of my day.So just out of curiosity when was the last class reunion you went to? I don't think my class even has them. I was waiting for one of two endings: I was lucky to get back on the ground because that guy was weirder than crap OR that guy told he was a pilot for “insert important person’s name here” and this was one of his rare times away from work. I was not sworn to secrecy, but I knew what would happen if I shared his name.I went to 10. It was kind of a bust, but it was good to see a few friends. I haven't been to a reunion since.
Your endings are a lot better. I need to learn to embellish...I was waiting for one of two endings: I was lucky to get back on the ground because that guy was weirder than crap OR that guy told he was a pilot for “insert important person’s name here” and this was one of his rare times away from work. Mine was 5/25/08. Main reason I remember was my party was that afternoon following the ceremony and the Parkersburg tornado was during it. I was interning at KCRG st the time and had invited the weather team, they couldn’t come and I couldn’t go help with coverage. Bummed me out. Little did I know a few weeks later we would have another major event with the floods. You actually remember the date?
Kinda like how I'll always remember the date of my first day of HS because tornado.Mine was 5/25/08. This really confused me until I opened the link and read for a while. I had some family in the '80s and '90s in the Waverly, Plainfield, Nashua area in Iowa. I had no recollection of a huge EF5 tornado from back then. Yeah, I know there are other Plainfields, but after talking about NE tornadoes in these threads, I immediately went to NE Iowa for this one...Kinda like how I'll always remember the date of my first day of HS because tornado.

P.S. - Did not realize this tornado was classified as an EF5 until I was getting the Wiki link.

Get the banana pudding, that’s what I drink. Or the blue raspberry.Store had white chocolate strawberry cream moonshine, banana pudding, dill pickle, butter pecan, mountain java, and peach.
I was in Marion for an anniversary party with my mom. Coming home I was going to take the route we took my sister to UNI on, which was through Parkersburg. I didn’t know 20 had been moved (hadn’t went that way since my sister went to college) and the map my mom had was 20 years old. Was confused with 20 because of it not being where it used to be, but ended up staying on it and not rerouting back to go through Parkersburg. Got to 20/35 intersection and grabbed gas, wife called me to see if I could go back because her parents had weathered the storm in a bar cooler (with either Poppins or Christofferson) and their car was destroyed. Turned out the wife’s cousin could pick them up since they were all at a graduation party. One day that bad info was lucky for me.Was driving down from Minnesota to NE Iowa that day. Got south of Decorah and stopped and pulled over because sky looked crazy bad. While I was stopped a gust front blew through and was tossing gravel across the road and actually blow some of it into Das Audi. Car was rocking some. Did a U-turn and highballed it back north to Decorah to wait it out. Didn't know at the time but what I was looking at south and west was all part of that big storm ****.
