I was seriously was expecting to look outside to see owls attacking a crow or something. Been a long time since I had heard a loon.

Was walking by a small pond a few weeks ago and it was a loud calliope of noise. LOUD. Chorus frogs. I was thinking it would really suck to live in an adjacent house in the spring.

The great bunny rat war is not going well. Day two and squirrel two. Damn tree rats, it's baited with brussel sprout halves not peanut butter. Squirrels **** up everything. Couple neighbors and I stopped feeding birds (sad because I like to see them) because of the squirrel hoards. Maybe if I catch and release all of the squirrels they will stop tripping the trap.

One of those types died in our neighbor's yard a few days ago. Noticed it first in one position when I went out to put water in the bird bath. Later it was closer to my backyard (eww) and eventually gave up the ghost. No idea why. Don't think I ever saw a squirrel not moving in the yard. OK by me though.

Sounds like a Minnesota white noise app.

That would also include the sound of pull tabs being opened, meat raffle numbers being called out, people arguing over whether we have too many or not enough bike lanes, and snowblowers.

Got one doing the same thing in my backyard. It was all curled up and still. Thought it was dead but it jumped up, like hopped up and staggered off a few paces. Weird. Bet I have a dead tree rat to dispose of by tomorrow. Where are the hawks when I need them?

Really? I didn’t see mine move, just noticed in a different (was to be his last) an hour or so later. I’ll watch to see how the grass grows there.

Feel your pain. Neighbor feeds them corn and the cobs end up in my yard. I probably caught 5 a couple years ago and released them. Now that we have a wood fence on the back side of our lot a BB gun at 60’ will make them run pretty fast. Carolina Reaper powder mixed with some peanut butter and put on an apple will also make them think twice. Any hot pepper mix will work. Even mixed it in some paint so the would quit eating the trim around my garage door.

Good golly. I had to go around the block to look at the garage drinking/smoking neighbors. They literally have brought every field rock they could get their hands on and dumped it right along the property line. They apparently want an Arizona lawn. They stuck a bale of straw over the large storm drain on their lawn. Bale is half gone and mud is packed up as high as it over the rest of the drain. I should have just rented mom’s old house out and not sold it.

We got ~1.75 in. Dreary now, but radar forecast shows mostly cloud free today. We’ll see.
