Race Thompson

I'd heard that Race Thompson choose to visit for the Baylor game because Baylor is very much recruiting him as well. He's in to see both teams. Iowa State has closed the gap, but Baylor was a strong lean for Race a few months ago.

Prohm visited last Friday..Race was in Waco for the Kstate game and I believe he'll be in Ames for the game against the Bears. Baylor is probably his favorite at this point from what I'm hearing. Race and his family really like Prohm and I know they watch every Cyclone game so I'd say we're very much in the running.

Where did people see that Baylor was a strong lean for him or the favorite? I'm not saying anyone is wrong, but I've just never heard or seen anything on that until a few posts today.

Man, I had NO idea Baylor was that high on his list. Figured we were battling Minnesota and Wisc more than likely. Dang. We can't let Drew get him, but something tells me its out of our control. lol Didn't we lose out to Texas for a 2017 power forward guy from Minn? Can't remember his name. Sorry, I just want us to be able to continue to pull in some Midwest guys, as I think Lewis was a TJ guy, but at least we hung on to him.

You can only hope his family wants to come see him play. Pretty simple really head west on I I90. take the I35 exit south, and take one of the multiple exits that lead into Ames.

What is it a 4 hour trip?

Two very successful programs, and similar personalities from the coaches. Drew has the resume over Prohm right now, but I'd have to think the much, much shorter distance would be attractive.

Baylor surprised me too. His oldest sister played volleyball at Wisconsin and his other sister is playing for LBSU so proximity to home doesn't seem to be a factor. I grew up with his mother and a lifetime friend so if you wanna know what Race had for breakfast I c can tell you. He's making his decision in August. Baylor and Iowa State are leading at this point. I guess Drew is a hell of a good person. Seems Race is looking at the coaching more than anything, and he really likes Prohm.

ISU did put a couple of bigs

I also hear word that Drew is on the short list for Indiana, I have no idea how that impacts the situation, and how they stack up for big guys , but there is that variable that is out there.

As someone who grew up a mile from Race's HS I can say gopher basketball is not followed with any passion up there. There is literally zero comparison between the Barn and Hilton coliseum beyond they are both gyms. how Minnesota gets recruits is beyond me.

I think I've seen more gopher apparel here than I ever did living in Minnesota.
Not that I don't believe you didn't see much Gopher apparel where you lived, but since I've moved here I havent been able to get away from the fact that everyone in Minnesota loves the Gophers and follows them heavily like anything else Minnesotan.

There is no comparison between the Barn and Hilton, absolutely zero, but Minnesota fans still swear the Barn is tough place to play (as if noone has played on an elevated floor before)

I understand the point you're making but it should probably say east on I94 or I394. Sorry. This was very geography police-ish.

This would be great. Baylor would probably just hire Bryce though.

I generally agree with this post. People do generally like the Gophers, though most don't follow the team closely. There's more Gopher apparel than any other school. ISU is probably third, after Wisconsin and ahead of Iowa and North Dakota State.
