RABGRAI 2015

I did one day last year and had a blast. Really bummed I can't do any days this year.

I honestly think I drank more on the day I rode last year than I had in any one day since college. Woof.

What teams do we have represented here on CyFan? I know someone on here has a "Team Stray" avatar. I'm on "Team Medium Pace" bringing up the rear (heh heh).

Team Peske' here, we ride with Team Head, my 25th year, 23 with my ISU buddy. I know a few on TMP, Sean/Chris & Dan/Lacey.

I'm HEADed out on Tues night to Eldora, will ride thru Iowa Chity sporting the cardinal & gold.

Aaar mateys a pirates report from RAGBRAI 2015. 2 pieces of pie consumed, bargain of the day the cub scouts in Manson chicken sandwich. Miles rode a little over 80. Rode in the rain for about an hour it was really kind of pleasant. Met people from San Francisco, Chicago, and Orlando. Seen 3 riders down 2 looked kind of bad. Lots of blood on the one crossing the bridge into Ft. Dodge. I hope they all are OK. Well time for refreshments.

Rode Tues. seemed really busy have not heard a count number. Survived the century. Breakfast stop was HyVee in Webster City. Fruit cup, chocolate milk, and a yogurt for 4 bucks deal of the day. Alden was a great stop by the river lots of shade. It's all Good in Radcliffe for banana splits. Eldora was hopping (not often you hear that said.) Heard a few ambulances only saw one person being loaded up. I'm out after yesterday have fun and be safe. Time to go back to work.

I'm thinking about riding it again next year, maybe not the entire week. The first year I did it, I ended up on the front of a 50+ person paceline for a few miles. When my friend informed me of this, we decided to floor it and dropped everyone off the back. Way too sketchy for our tastes.

This thread is so DISAPPOINTING. Almost nothing from the CF riders this week.

Whar our mobile reports from our CF bikers?

Great showing for Cyclones riding into Coralville on Friday. I honestly think we were better represented than the haks.

The route through Iowa City was irritating because they forced us to zig zag all over campus and around Kinnick. Of course there were shouts of "go hawks!" to which I would reply: "plenty of tickets still available!"

Rode my 20th one last week. Nice weather for most part and flatter territory. I thought the best overnight stop was Storm Lake and the best pass through towns were Solon and La Porte City. Saw tons of Cyclone gear out there.

I only rode 2 days on route and then rode the rest of the week back in Des Moines. This year for some reason more then ever Ragbrai stood for "Register's Annual Great Bus Ride Across Iowa". I had so many friends that rode part of day 1 then jumped on the bus that their team had.

The 2 days I was on wasn't too bad at all.. Day 1 I decided to go past Storm Lake and to Fonda to stay at my in-laws and drink with some baggers that decided to stay in Fonda. Day 2 was easy but fun since Mr Pork Chop was at my brother in-law's farmhouse.

Rest of the week I decided to ride the High Trestle, Raccoon, and Neal Smith Trails. Kinda fun since there a few of us that kinda had the run of the bars for a few days.

Ragbrai is one of those things for me that is ok in small doses. After the last few years riding the whole thing, it was nice to get away from it but also ride some. Overall I rode about the same distance as the ride, but didn't have to wait in lines or anything.

I'm a junky. I go all week. I may take short cuts, but I always want to ride river to river. I'm like a caged animal on the bus. Saggin' ain't my style.

How were the Aplington and Parkersburg pass throughs?

I did a leg this year, Hiawatha to Coralville, had a good time, next year i want do two legs. Might buy a road bike though, I currently ride a old Mtn bike set up with some street tires, think it might be a little easier on me.
