With RAGBRAI just around the corner I was wondering who all was riding this year and what stop are you looking forward to most. I have done it the last three years but this will be my first time doing the whole ride.

Plan to ride for the first time (two days). Will be riding from CR to CF on Wedneaday to join the ride for two days.

My first time on Ragbrai. Only doing Eldora to Cedar Falls as Eldora is the closest starting point to me. Want to do more in the future but want to make sure I actually can do it. I have ridden about 800 miles up to now but 90% has been rail-trails so I am still a little nervous about riding more hills than I'm used to in a single ride.

Friday should be really fun, Hiawatha to Coralville. Mt. Vernon is a good little town, then Sutliff and Solon. Bring your drinking shoes.

800 miles? You don't have anything to worry about. 60 miles isn't too strenuous when you stop in every (or every other) town for a beer, pork chop, and a rest.

The nerve-wrecking part for me on RAGBRAI are the riders who have their bike tires <2" away from mine.

Sixth year in a row for me. Always go week-long as well. Looking forward to Fort Dodge since I have family in the area and the team will be staying at my aunt's.

Doing it for the first time. I've done week-long tours elsewhere before so not too concerned. Really worried I won't be able to sleep at night though. The combination of heat, humidity and people who've had a few too many may conspire against me! :wideeyed:

You'll be fine. Start early, enjoy the ride and stop in every town if you can. I love how the small towns embrace RAGBRAI. Iowa nice at its best.

I am doing g as many days as my 8.5 month pregnant wife and my work allow me. Hoping to get through Wednesday. I am really looking forward to Saturday night kick off on Sioux City with a musical friend of mine, Damon Dotson opening up for Huey Lewis! After that it will trying to survive day one which looks to be a b%! $@. I'll see you around for a cold one Flander.

What teams do we have represented here on CyFan? I know someone on here has a "Team Stray" avatar. I'm on "Team Medium Pace" bringing up the rear (heh heh).

If you don't like draft lines you won't like my team. I am on Team NAD. We draft but mostly only with ourselves to avoid the people who don't know how to ride in a paceline safely. I agree that it isn't a race, but we tend to hurry up to the next town. You don't want the time on the bike to interfere with the quality time you can spend with your favorite beverage.
