This crap is getting tired. Feeding 18 year old kid's egos before they even step on campus. Gag me with a pineapple.

Unfortunately some of CFers are guilty of this. I remember several years ago someone started a thread to encourage the others to flood his twitter encouraging him to come here.....

Not exactly sure.
Makes you understand why so many coaches hate the recruiting aspect. Then once you get them on campus, you have to de-recruit them so they realize they're just one of 95 other scholarship players on the team.
95? Hey, we ain’t Nebraska! ;)

He is shopping. KY, OU, etc. My guess Venables is pushing hard for him. And a weird OU connection there (Stoops at KY, Venables).

I hope we can keep him, but I too am having my doubts.
Shopping? He’s taking visits. Some kids just like taking free trips.

The “experts” thought he was going to commit to Kentucky when he visited there. They thought he was going to commit to South Carolina last summer when he visited there.

We’ll see what we see when February rolls around.

I want to say CPR told Lazard it was OK for him to visit other schools. Obviously it’s not ideal, but you don’t want to be the guy who says cancel all your visits either. Personally I don’t get why they commit to a school, if they aren’t committed. Especially in a situation where you commit before the early signing period, but want to wait until later to sign still.

Many times a commit get a rating bump and recognition if they commit to a P5 school. That at times leads to invites to better school that they were interested in.

If the kid came out and states he's decomitting and opening up his recirutment that's totally fine. My issue is he's still actively shopping around while being "committed".

OK. Maybe he's Xmas shopping then. Call it what you want, visits, trips. He is shopping, IMO. That's OK, it's his life/future. He can do what he wants.

Don't try to say he just wants to take free trips. That just isn't it, and is an over-simplification.

Dosn't mean I don't want him to come to ISU. I HOPE it's just some free trips.

You never know what we can do here, but it seems like this kid isn’t exactly genuine about wanting to come here.

Easy to forget plenty of kids ranking are no shoe in to even pan out. We could be getting upset all for nothing

He's been pretty upfront. And it seems our staff agrees. Soft commits have been common for years.

I wouldn't count us out at all on this. Venables will be a worthy battle. I didn't realize he was such a good recruiter until listening to a few recent podcasts on his hire. If they get commits from Thomas and Moten, that would sting. But as someone else posted, everyone predicts Thomas to change his commitment after every visit, and he has yet to do it. <knock on wood> He's shopping, but he does like Iowa State.

Xavier Nwankpa and Xavier Foster both stated that they felt wanted by the fans in their recruitments and that it mattered. I’m pretty sure Purdy got a chant at a basketball game, too. It might seem weird but these players will be/are public figures when they play big time DI sports. I don’t see it as a big deal. It certainly won’t be the thing that makes or breaks them as players or people

Captain obvious here. Maybe he wants to make sure he is making the right move? He had a strong connection for sure when he committed to Iowa State. We obviously need him with Enyi and Zach leaving, and Will in another year. I hope he stays with the good guys.

I was going to ask how many official visits a recruit can take. I think I found my answer here. Is it five?
"You can make up to five Official – expense paid visits to college campuses. the visit to the campus cannot be longer than forty eight hours in duration. you are are not allowed to have an official visit until after your first day of classes of your senior year."
NCAA Recruiting Rules. Official Visits. (collegesportsscholarships.com)

The kid isn’t coming here. Time to move on.
Link? Otherwise you have no idea whether or not that is true yet. Unless he can sign between now and Feb, I think we will have to wait until February.

Exactly, if I had the opportunity, I would take every single one of my official visits. Might as well

Winner winner. Often times the kids are pressured to commit early...coaches like that as they can show the kid off and place a puzzle piece in their big picture. I think the better recruits explore all their options, compare the experiences, and then make a choice based on their visits. Thomas may take all five of his visits and then decide that ISU is the place to be...or not. I'll wish him the best regardless of the decision. Campbell will keep in touch and in the end respect the decision the kid will make.
