Question for negative posters

Trouble is, most people on here don't realize what a laughingstock ISU is. Just mention ISU to someone from the SEC, for instance, and you get a chuckle and an eye roll. Even Vandy has gotten some respect recently.

I guess I just don't get it. It's a football game. At the end of the game, I just said, "Well, we lost again." But for people to turn this board into a three day pity party just boggles my mind. Is Iowa State losing the worst thing in your life that the same discussion just goes on and on? Maybe it's because I am older, and lived through a lot of crap, that losing a football or basketball game just seems inconsequential. But I keep watching them, and will continue, and I'll be thrilled when we have good seasons.

And please, the crap about Rhoads needing to fire this or that coach immediately - he already stated weeks ago that he doesn't believe in doing that mid-season. So wait and see what he does at the end of the season before bringing this up again.

Just because he doesn't believe in it doesn't make it right.

Mess honestly should have been fired after the Liberty Bowl.

If football was just a game to this university, we would not pay Rhoads and his staff millions.

You can criticize negative fans all you want but that faction of the fan base is becoming the majority

Go Cyclones. Win, lose, or draw. Nobody cares. We will support you. Give a cheer, cheer, cheer ............ Good grief. Talk about apathy.

Meh, I haven't experienced anything like that while being in SEC country. Been in Mississippi, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Nashville, and South Carolina in the last 3-4 years and didn't experience any negativity.

I have to somewhat concede your point. Pride and passion are somewhat irrational when you come right down to it. It really gets back to how you want to enjoy your diversions, actively or passively. Kudos to you for the fortitude to enjoy the highs and ignore the lows. At this point I do wonder why I care about a 1-8 team.

It seems like it is becoming the majority on this website, not the fan base in general. Most fans are level headed enough to give CPR a chance to fix the problems. Now if we are sitting at 1-8 this time next year, I want to be in the pitch fork business.

Apathy set in a few games ago.

Anyway, the good thing about being a Cyclone fan is that the lows aren't so low and the highs are very, very high!

Here's the thing: All we fans really want to see is improvement. You know, like K State improvement. We don't have to win them all, but at least look competitive against the better teams in the conference. That isn't too much to ask for I don't think.

Agree 100%.

Proud of the effort today and this team fought hard and did not show an ounce of quit. Tired of reading misguided rants about firing coaches.
TCU is not very good winning only four. They have injuries just like us. They beat us at home in homecoming after we won last year. We are not good.

I can understand being disappointed, but at some point people have to realize they are watching a game.

Most of our fans are fantastic. I get emotional just thinking about the crowd yesterday. Iowa State is a special place those players and the coaches know that they are lucky to be able to play here. And I take my job as a fan seriously....being an Iowa State fan means that you take the good and you take the bad.

Have you ever had a day where just EVERYTHING has gone wrong? Nothing you do works out? That's kind of this season in football. What the team and the fans need to do is shake off the bad season and regroup. I am not giving up on anybody. I've seen too many special wins the last 4 years.

I missed Saturdays game, but at the Oklahoma State I totally disagree people in the lots I went into after the game were disgusted with the last 2 games and were calling for heads to roll and that was before getting embarrassed in Manhatten and yesterday's result. Don't kid yourself this fan base is becoming anti Rhoads faster than some think.

I don't see many calling for a firing but I do see people concerned about where things are headed. And lots of disagreement with the crowd who thinks 6-6/6-7 is all that should ever be expected.

Then our fan base has more idiots in it than I thought.

If it can be done in Waco, Manhattan KS, and Dekalb IL it can be done in Ames Iowa.

The record is one thing, being completely inept is another.

The football team was failing before the injuries occurred. They're a convenient excuse, but not a valid reason for the overall failure.

If the basketball facility was hit by a laser-guided bomb while 8 guys were practicing and 5 were off studying, we'd all shrug it off, or if the same thing happened in an RPG accident, or something like that. If we turned into a single-digit win team just because of one injury, then Fred would have failed.

Well, not really. Graham and Dika were both injured before the season started and Tuftee was limited.

The really disappointing thing about this season is that we expected the defense to regress slightly. They have, no doubt about it. The thing is, with a slightly competent offense, we should have 6 wins. Even with the defense getting shelled in a few games, we should have beaten UNI, Iowa, Tulsa, Texas, TTU, and TCU. Instead, you have two games that we didn't have anything going, one where we kind of looked okay against an awful defense, another where you had multiple opportunities to put more points on the board and didn't while the defense was doing okay, another where you got a kick return and multiple short fields but could do anything on your own and then yesterday was kind of the cherry on top. You had 3 organic points. 3 ******* points. That's the worst part for me. Same as last year. We would be a lot better with just an average offense.

I'm not sure some of you know how pathetic 1-11 really is and how uncommon it really is for BCS conference teams in college football. I have never witnessed a time where a coach has gone 1-11 well into his career and lasted long term. There are very very serious issues with this program right now.

And with the exception of Baylor, this conf is a dumpster fire this year.

Right. It's pretty underestimated by some. It's one of those things that just doesn't happen by accident. It's a reflection of genuine issues in the program somewhere.

Wait...we're 1-11?
