Question about Welch Ave Station

I loved going into the Keg Shop at 19, with my buddy who was also 19 using his cousin's DL for an ID, and buying hundreds of dollars of fire sale beer to drag back to our entire floor in Larch.
And now the case is screwed in with 4 different types of screws.
My day is brighter knowing these 2 joints are still open.

It’s been a decade since I had to deal with this, but I don’t think the laws have changed in Ames. If more than 50% of sales are alcohol, an establishment has to be 21+. If there are some hours (e.g. lunch/early dinner) where it’s less than 50%, they can choose to be all-ages during those times of day.
I'm pretty sure Ames City Code (Section 17.16) allows minors in bars when accompanied by a legal guardian. Its just that most bars have their own policy to not allow it as they are liable if the minor is drinking.
I used to live just down the street from Fox 1 on South 5th but never visited it for some reason.
It will be a sad day if Pizza Pit or Welch Ave Station were to ever close. Stevie C's in Grimes has a little bit of the Welch Ave Station vibe to it so kind of like a mini-version of it locally for me.
Amazes me how some of the same places are still open years later like Sips, Paddy's, Cy's Roost (although the current version of it is a reboot from what some of us remember) I was there opening night for Mickey's and got to go in and be part of the pre-opening crowd because we went early and the photographer they hired saw us standing outside about an hour before the grand opening and invited us in for free drinks until opening so that was a fun experience. Cafe Beaudelaire is still open and that's about it from what I recall as the staples from when I turned 21 in 2000. Even the Main St. bars have had a lot of closures over the years. Whiskey River may be the lone one still standing from 2000 as Old Main and Corner Pocket both are something different now. Of course Tip Top Lounge is still going strong in town too
For the record they allow youngsters as long as they’re with parents. Good to go!
I've long said if they ever decide to close down WAS/Pizza Pit I would somehow work with people to find the money to keep it alive. It just can't close.
We went for pizza and drinks last night. Brooke is alive and well! Was tough getting to WAS as they have Welch tore up.
Back in the 70s bars couldn't be open on Sundays unless 50% of their business was food. That made Dugan's Deli a very popular place to go.
