Putting on my socks

Is this an impossible task to anyone else? At some point I got old enough that this became insanely difficult. There has to be a better way.

Humble brag I guess, but I'm a big guy, I'm 52, my knees aren't good, but for some reason, putting on socks has never entered my mind as something difficult to do. I'm assuming it doesn't bother me at all because I've never thought that it was getting hard to do.

I will say this though, I do stretch, not just in the morning, but also at night about an hour before I go to bed I do a good stretch, especially my legs.

I'm 41 and you're a jerk.

I've noticed in the last year that it's harder than I ever imagined. That and getting the leg high enough to put on the unders. Age and weight aren't friends.

I saw a tiktok with just words: I see people my age climbing mountains and ziplining and here I am feeling good because I got my leg through my underwear without losing my balance. :)

I can put on my left sock, but my right hip has no give anymore. I hold my breath and reach beyond the painful point just to slip the top of my sock over my toes. Then I take a breath and work it up over my foot.

I see some say don't wear socks, yeah that's fine when you are younger and you get blood circulating into your feet. I'm 68 and my feet feel like their filled with ice, year round. It just happens!

When I can't put on my socks anymore just put me out of my misery, I had a good run but it's clearly over at that point.
One good thing about this thread, I really thought I was nearing the end of my rope. The fact that just this morning, I put each sock on, while standing on one leg, without any other support, I might just have a few more years left.

You put two socks on one foot? I’m impressed.

I'm sure you understand how putting on one sock on each foot went, but I'll like your comment for the effort. Don't worry though, it's not all cream and roses, my knees are not good, it's the reason I stretch my lower legs out so much at night.
