Purdy in the NFL

1) I did not realize Purdy was still only 21, I had it in my head he was an older senior; my apolologies
2) Age DOES factor into a player's future potential in the NFL:

This is only for first round picks, but certainly an indicator that younger players have room more room for growth.

As noted above, I didn't realize Purdy was still only 21, so you can ignore the age part.

Seems like a selection bias at work more than an indication of age. I would be interested in the median instead of the average.

I’m always surprised the number of people who think Brock has a shot in the nfl. He struggles to throw the ball over 40 yards. He has no shot.

I do agree with this. Teams in college don't even respect Purdy's ability to beat them deep, or even past 25 yds for that matter.

We faced stacked boxes every week because of that.

I believe that is the #1 issue with Purdy's game for the NFL.

He's a late day three option IMO. Lack of arm strength and size are MASSIVE red flags.

He is a gamer though, and by all accounts a GREAT locker room guy who I believe is vaccinated (matters for backups)

He will 100% make OTA and summer camp in the NFL. Once he is there, scheme and coach matter a ton. Would love to see Brock end up in NO, TB, Dallas, Rams, LV and ATL. Good to great orgs with offensive coaches in domes. Brock in a dome would do wonders for his career

Purdy can easily throw the ball over 50 yards, and he's displayed that multiple times this season. He does struggle with off platform throws, which is the biggest issue to me. He has plenty of arm strength, but his mechanical flaws are amplified when he's off balance. I think he'll be drafted late and have a shot to make a roster. But it's kind of a coin flip at that point depending on who drafts him.

We face stacked boxes because we have the best RB in college football, and getting ISU out of a position where its a run first team is the key to beating.

I wouldn't make the argument of him being an NFL starter, but he will get a shot as a backup. Brock has shown an ability to be highly accurate, can extend plays, making dumb mistakes less (this year), is a leader, and proven winner. That is the perfect backup NFL QB. Regarding arm strength.....Rush did ok for the Cowboys and his arm is considered suspect.
Brock is a GREAT competitor and leader. Would be a good backup in the NFL. Better appreciate him NOW.

Yes, people act like he can't throw it 20 yards or something, his arm is fine. It's not John Elway out there but people on here act like it's awful, and it's just not true.

Mocks mean little right now but a quick check of 3 7-rounders had him going in the 7th, Not at All and Not at All. They also had some very questionable QBs that did get drafted.

Haener from Fresno St. - 6-0/195
Armstrong from Virginia - 6-1/215
Hartman from Wake - 6-1/208

Purdy has done more than all those guys. Drafted or not, he will get a shot. What is better, a NFL practice squad or starting in the CFL?

You can be a Brock Purdy fan while also saying he has a weak arm. Peyton Manning won a super bowl throwing dead ducks.. Drew Brees played to near 40 with a limited arm

I said struggles. Congrats on showing the one good deep throw he’s made this year. Can you show me his deep throws against Iowa?

I love Brock. But he has to take two hitches in order to throw that. Most NFL starters can flick their wrist and throw it farther.

Cousins has an average to below average arm in the NFL. He can throw it 50 yards off his back foot

This is a great example of a throw Brock could never in his wildest dream make.

You said he struggled to throw it 40 yards. I just showed him easily throwing it 50 yards

He does struggle? Which why most of the throws he makes 40+ yards aren’t close, often wounded ducks, and have very little height.
