Pumping Milk at Work

Perceived right? I think that's an actual, real-to-goodness right.

People, especially men, are sooooo judgmental about this topic. It's none of your business and why the **** does anyone else care?

I'm really not all that judgmental. I don't really care. But in an example such as the one the OP posted, why not go to the designated area? Again, it's some I feel like it's some weird entitlement thing that they are doing it to be noticed.

Also, far from just men who are bothered by it. My wife will routinely comment on it, and she's breastfed before.

there's been a number of reasons posted as to why she may not wish to use the designated area. It's possible that she's got motivation beyond breastfeeding evangelism.

I have to admit, this made me chuckle. Reasons be damned, I'm going to continue to include them with "walking-your-pitbull-in-public" and vaping people.

I do not deny that there seems to be that type of crowd. See also: unmedicated birth evangelists.
But unless OP comes back to add the detail that cube neighbor also walks by his door hooked up to her machine while doing the shimmy, she's probably just going for efficiency.

I thought I heard the time spent pumping is unpaid (not an expert though). If she doesn't have a company laptop or cellphone or whatever she needs to work from the lactation room, then maybe that's why she stays at her desk. That would suck (pun intended) to be at work for the time spent pumping but not actually getting paid for it IF that is her situation. You at least get paid for going to the bathroom.

That is not accurate. Employers are required by federal law to provide a room other than the bathroom that is shielded from view and to provide reasonable break time to allow for pumping.

Incorrect. How much "client entertainment" is conducted at strip bars?

The Super Bowl will be in Minneapolis next year. I can't even imagine how many entries there will be on expense reports listing "Rick's Cabaret" as a line item.
When the Super Bowl was in Atlanta the strip clubs updated the name printed on their receipts to keep that from being a problem.

My wife did that at times, but it involved pumping while driving.

It's from The Office. Not trying to bolster that point of view. It's just a related scene from one of the best shows of all time.
Which is why I included the smile...that way we both have wiggle room. :D
I figured it was something well-known, but didn't recognize the characters. I watched a few bits & pieces of it, but never mustered up enough interest to watch the whole show. Dunno why.

Had a teammate that pumped at work, but we have private mommy rooms for it. She was gone a lot to pump. It was okay because I just enjoyed seeing her walk around with her huge melons.

Why does anyone care if it is not disrupting their work? Seems like there are worse problems.

My first child, there was a designated room in a bathroom four stories down from my office. Did not have a laptop. Did not have a private office. Had to be tied to my landline. My supervisor actually asked me to used his private office and we forwarded our phone calls to each other because my job was time sensitive and he wanted me to be able to keep working. The designated area had a straight back chair and you could hear and smell everyone pooping BTW. Half the time, by the time I would get there, I had already leaked through my clothes.

Boobs are everywhere in society. Not sure why they are a big deal when they are used for function. I have known women who breastfeed up to two years and don't feel compelled to judge them as to why, although I know some actually are for medical reasons of their children. Maybe her kid gets sick less and she isn't using as much sick time. Whatever.

I worded a little differently, but that was what I was referring to in my post (Also a good reason to not demand that mothers go sit in a bathroom to nurse their babies). Not to mention the germs (of course there are germs on desks too...).

This whole thread would be better if mtown was the OP and was flying one of his boobie avatars.
