Prohm's Ties

Glen Anderson made sure that his faithful gold blazer made the transition from the Armory to Hilton. If flashing school colors is the key, we are owed at least 3 or 4 final fours.

I really hope threads like this make it back to Prohm just so he can have a good chuckle over it. Does anything in his brief history at ISU make you think he gives a rat's ass about his sideline attire?

He doesn’t obviously. The guy posts pics on Twitter of him getting ready to take his kids trick or treating.

You want to see a fashion disaster, look no further than porter moser. Just patterns on top of patterns. All different

I would think that a polo shirt and any sort of pants would be just fine for coaching attire.
Pants would be considered mandatory, but it's fair game after that.

I'm pretty sure that the NABC has some kind of 'recommendation' that their member's wear suits on the sidelines but I agree with you. Go to polos, Eric Musselman-style

Call me skeptical, but looks shopped. sorry.
I'm pretty sure that Boxster has worn an ISU tie to that Order of the Troll thing or whatever it is called that the ISU President hosts.

I'm really disappointed that I can't see any of Boxster's pics that he posted.

I don't have any ISU ties. I don't dress up that much for any ISU events. I have several polos, a couple of rugbys, a ton of t-shirts and maybe 3 pairs of boxers. That doesn't count any of the ball caps, winter hats, gloves or jackets.

I worked as a manager in the McDermott era and back then everyone on the bench wore suits. The first time I got to sit on the bench I was in the coach's locker room getting changed with the rest of the coaches and started to tie my tie. Coach Mac came up to me and says what the h*ll are you wearing? I was quite perplexed because I thought I looked pretty good. I had put on my favorite purple tie, on the night we were playing UNI, in his first game against them since leaving. Luckily one of the other coaches had a back up.

He was mostly joking, but he certainly noticed. I think basketball coaches should not wear suits, but if you do, I could care less what color tie you wear with it. Just win.

I'm wearing a pink tie today. I can't think of a single opponent that wearing that tie would be a problem.

No but it’s a reflection on the spouse. If your kid’s socks don’t match, has buttons missing, or has his oldest T-shirt on for picture day people wonder “what is his mother thinking “ never does the dad get criticized

I had a buddy who was a high school coach up here. I went to one of his games and was surprised that he was wearing a tie that was the other team's colors. Someone told me that he does that for every game. He feels that it gives him and his team a psychological advantage. Something like "We aren't intimidated by you. We'll even welcome you as we are kicking your ass." The guy is a former All-American so I think he knows a thing or two about basketball.

On a related note, did they ever say why both benches were wearing matching (greenish) ties at the last game? Mrs. Velo asked me but I never heard. Was this a Jimmy V or Coaches for Cancer type of thing?

Literacy awareness.

I think Prohm should roll with the George Raveling tracksuits. Those were some fine ass threads.

And then ISU got beat by UNI as a good warning that it wasn't the coaching.

Classic.

I agree with all of you except where CSP wore a blue tie during the Kansas game...blasphemy! ;-) (If this is actually even true.)
