Post-game thread - ISU vs. Iowa

Out rebounded out hustled and out coached. We have a long ways to go. Maybe another week of practice and we can figure out how to rebound. I don't have much hope with this coaching staff.

Posts like these makes me wonder if people like you even watched the game. Sure we were out rebounded but we sure as hell weren't out hustled or out coached.

YES! Nothing better than this type of attitude! I can't wait to go to the next game, so we can win and still be upset!

He may be taking it to extreme, but everything in his post is a concern. Remember that we just beat one of the worst BCS teams in the country by 10 points. The fact that the lead was almost double before the last 2 minutes makes me even more concerned. We are not going to win close games that way.

I would still like to know how it is that Iowa out rebounded us? Anyone?

Because we have very good talent and poor coaching?

It was good to win a game, but hard to take much more than "we beat the Hawks" out of this game, IMO. It's clear this team has talent, but something is really missing. Iowa is an AWFUL team and I think (not sure) that they had their season high offensive out put. Tons of talent, but something still isn't right. When these guys win a game they aren't supposed to, I'll start believing. Call that idea crazy, but there was a time when ISU routinely did that in Hilton.

Hopefully Craig can keep this up. He needed to make something happen, and he did tonight. That, and Dendy's spark was inspiring. Hopefully this team can start to gel, because they have the raw ability, they just need someone to step up and lead.

Yeah, that's why we won.... Wow... Relax! Some people!

Could it be that ISU had a high FG% for most of the game? Not many offensive boards to be had when most of your shots are going in.

I guess I don't see how we were out coached. This was a blow out with 2 min left. Iowa hit a few threes, DG missed a layup, and we couldn't hit our free throws. That's what caused the margin to tighten up, not coaching. And it was still a double digit win. The way some of you talk, you'd think we lost the game.

**** and moan when we lose, **** and moan when we win. We aren't where we need to be, but let the coaches worry about that, and if you don't have faith in them, what the hell kind of fan are you? I think Monty's attitude is becomng contagious.

Thought we played a solid game overall. We let up towards the end to make it appear closer then it was. This game was never in doubt, like it shouldn't have been.

Keep it up, Bradley will be tougher.

I'm guessin' you're one of those "glass is half-full" types, am I right?

No, I would say in the case of this basketball team, and this coach, I am a glass is half-empty person.

There is a lot of athletic talent on this team, and I don't feel this coach is utilizing it. It is not the first time that we as fans have seen this. I was just amazed watching the game-thread comments tonight. It was like a lot of people were not watching the same game I was. The same problems are still there. The only player on the team who truly knows HOW to rebound is Gilstrap. He grabs the damn ball! The others just tip it around, and God forbid if they use their butts or elbows to move someone out of the way! This is where CB and Ham are soft, and what I don't get is that GMac is supposedly such a good "big" man coach. Well, a major part of being a big man on a basketball team is rebounding.

I just don't see any discipline in GMac's teams. They might play well for a few times down the floor, passing the pall around quickly, and getting it to the open man. But then they are just as likely to come down and stand around, then just dribble, or put up a 3 attempt 10 seconds or less into the shot clock after 1 or 2 passes. Sorry, but that is not a well-coached team, and we have all watched it for 4 years.

I keep hoping I am going to see some improvement, but I am losing faith. Honestly, I think Bradley will bury them. I hope not, but nothing I saw tonite shows me anything different.

They just beat a very bad in-state rival by 10 points on their home floor! ISU gave up 71 points to a bad team that was only averaging 61. Only NC Central, and Prairie View had given up more points to Iowa this year. They allowed that very bad team to out-rebound them. They allowed them to take like 26 3 point shots, and make 11 of them. What do you think will happen if we allow teams in the Big 12 to take 25 to 30 3 point shots? They still can't make 70 per cent of their free throws, and that will kill them in the Big 12. They allowed a bad team to cut a huge lead in half in the last few minutes, to the point that the coach had to put the star back on the floor. How embarrassing was that?

I see nothing that tells me that GMac knows what he is doing. If someone wants to point out to me what indications there are that he does, I willing to consider those points. I just don't see anything. Sorry.

The one good thing outside of CB that I saw tonight was the play of Dendy again. I hope he is working his way back to a healthy state, because I do think that he can be special. Of course, for whatever reason, it seemed like just as he got into the flow of the game and was doing well with DG, GMac took him out. Now, that may have been to protect his knee, but I have my doubts.

There was a basketball rolling in to a little kid and he started walking into Hilton and saw jerseys past and present and highlights past. It was great!! I'd like to see it again

Seems to me that has plagued us the entirety of Mac's career at ISU. It's like Danny Mac and kickers.

They took a step forwad rather than another step back. Yes, there are some aspects we need to get better at but you can say that about every team in the nation. I'd rather peak in March rather than December.
