Hello Fanatics! I am working on a paper and need to do an internet survey. I am writing a paper on hunting and wanted to get the public’s input. If you would please take a few seconds of your time and vote. If you want you can post a reply. I am asking what you think of hunting. I picked this forum because I wanted to get a wide variety and not just hunters or anti hunters.
Thank you

Do you want to include a poll in this thread? That can be added if you like. Just tell me what you want the voting options to be, and I'll add it.

What am I supposed to put down if I don't hunt. Its not that I don't like hunting but how am I supposed to know if I like it also.

love it but was raised to. can see why some people are not fans, as a few bad apples spoil the bunch and there are plenty of bad apples in regards to hunting.

i don't care for the bad apples either. but if you do it, and do it right, it is extremely rewarding and a good character builder.

Same here. I think I've been once in my life. I don't love/hate/dislike hunting...I know nothing about it.

I have differing feelings toward trophy hunting than I do toward hunting for meat.

Never got into hunting... More of a fishermen type. Just never seemed fun freezing my butt off for hours to kill something. Love shooting guns, love deer meat, and pheasant meat. Can't blame people for loving it.

I do raise animals though....

i do both. bow hunt for trophy, shotgun for meat.

what's wrong with trophy hunting? i went close to 40 times last year and didn't draw my bow.

Hunting for meat is fine. Hunting to put a head on your wall is a waste.

Big hunter myself. Have been since I was 13 or 14 on a regular basis. Big shotgun hunter for deer, and just recently have gotten into bow hunting. I have already shot my trophy of a lifetime fortunately, but I am always out there looking for another! Mainly support hunting so much because it helps control the population and actually makes it better by removing the old males that contaminate the gene pool.

I do the same thing, brand new bow haven't shot anything in two seasons just because im patient and do my homework, that's half the fun of it. IF I do hunt during gun season I usually bring my muzzleloader.

I agree that hunting just to put heads on the wall is a little over the top. I love the hunt, strategy, and making the shot the most. I shot my trophy shotgun hunting and I think that can be respect. They also made programs such as HUSH to donate meat to the homeless/ needy for those who believe that all the killing is for nothing. I donate any meat that I cannot use to the HUSH program.

I also want to be able to take shots on trophies as well because they are trophies for a reason. Trophy deer are very very smart and to say you have taken one is quite an accomplishment. Their senses are amazing and only people who witness it themselves will agree. I have seen deer do stuff that would amaze people..

so you have hunted for meat and hunted for trophy?

trophy hunting is extemely rewarding. for me, i stake out THE 1-2 deer worth shooting that year. then i gameplan around those 1-2 deer.

i could have shot 100 deer "for the meat" last year while bow hunting, but i didn't. they were too young, too small, too dumb, too easy.

i do it for the challenge, and the trophy bucks are much more challenging. they don't get that big for being stupid.

I don't think we're talking the same language here. What I mean by trophy hunting is killing and animal, taking the head/paw/tail/wang/whatever to put on the wall, and leaving the rest behind.

Is that what you're talking about? If so, then yes, that's a waste.

i honestly don't know anybody who does what you are talking about. and i know a LOT of hunters.

put a head on the wall maybe, but leave the rest? nobody does that.

If the poll had a middle option, I'd likely go with that. Most people don't hunt to live. Killing has no appeal for me, but, we need hunting because we've reduced predators to the point where hunted species would overpopulate and die of disease and starvation without hunting to control numbers
