NBA: Playoff Time

It's amazing how people can find any little thing to belittle something amazing...
This is why I'll never understand Lebron haters the man is clearly the best player in the game. Instead of trying to belittle everything he does, why don't you just sit back and enjoy his game (like you all clearly do with Durant). Durant has his flaws too, but there's no point in pointing them out like all the Lebron haters do.

Thunder fan, Lebron hater here... I have no problem admitting James has been dominant tonight. This is what I expect out of someone named MVP

Did you see LeBron get sprayed with liquid as he walked into the tunnel to the locker room? He had just finally smiled at someone in the stands, then it was like someone spilled (threw) a beer on the mesh over the tunnel.

Forget about what Lebron did offensively tonight, he is also the best defensive player in the league. He guarded Rondo, Allen, shut down Pierce, and Garnett tonight, as he has done all series. People need to start apreciating what he does defensively. He doesn't gamble to get steals like Rondo and Wade, he just shuts people down defensively and dominates the glass.

I also loved all the attention Pierce got for hitting that big 3 in the previous game. So is hitting one big shot better than dominating and entire game? Lebron is clearly the best player in the NBA, followed closely by Durant. I would have said that before this game too.

I agree. Lebron > Durant. I said it before the game tonight.

Clutch is for folks who have never played enough competitive sports to understand what it's like to be in the clutch. There are people that fail in the clutch in high school, but once you get past JV sports, there isn't a whole lot of clutch, there's just luck. I've been scared ****less and made a big shot. It doesn't mean anything.

Certain types of lebron fans throw around that "hater" crap any chance they get. I've said he's the best. I don't believe he plays for the best team left but hes the best player. But if you even make an observation about thinking the heat are the 3rd best team in the playoffs(2nd best now), you're a hater.

What lebron did was amazing.. had the celtics brought their best game, good chance he still pulls out the win the way he was playing..I think it would have made a blow out, one of the best playoff games in recent history, had the celtics been able to match even a little of the ridiculous play he put out there. As a basketball fan, I wish that had happened. but by commenting that they didn't have it tonight, I'm belittling him? Come on..can't even compliment what an amazing performance he had, as I did, without being called a "hater". If I cheer against lebron, its becoming more because I'm annoyed by a certain portion of his fans that have this "us against the world" thing going, where if you're not completing kissing his ***, you're a jealous hater.

Oh well.. Celtics are in trouble now. Heat will be kicking themselves for those stupid losses to washington to end the year..home court against OKC means more than usual IMO. Those fans are insane any game..that is gonna one hell of an atmosphere come game 1. Wait..does saying that make me a hater?? I also think the 2-3-2 format sucks..if you can't steal game 1 or 2, you have to get up for 3 straight games that are all pretty much must-win.

Lebron doesn't get any credit for the little things he does. Defend without fouling (until that BS in Game 5), getting to the line (which is more important than making the actual FTs themselves, believe it or not), passing, and offensive rebounding (much more valuable than defensive rebounding). Durant averages more than a TO for each assist! Are you kidding me? He's not better than Lebron!

True..lebron fans can rightly use this to gloat though.. the man just single-handedly beat the celts..beat them on an off night, but still pretty impressive.

Derrick Rose had a pretty good year last year. The man won the MVP... he won it when every other star had a poor year, but still pretty good.

I would probably be called a Rose hater for this. Especially if I posted this in a thread where Rose fans and non-fans were having a back and forth.

I probably throw the word hater around too much, but its easier to type than to type out "people that don't like (hate, in some cases on here) Lebron"

You seem very reasonable, except for the sarcastic condescending tone. But there is a big difference between kissing his ***, being a fan, being indifferent, and a quote unquote hater. If you truly were indifferent about the guy, people wouldn't bring him up every other post, and try to bag on him (hell one of the biggest Bulls fans has his sig about the guy). You can dislike a player without knocking him every chance you get and being seemingly obsessed. It is this attitude that makes people think you are disliking someone more than normal, hence the term "hating."

But back to the point....I see this game 7 as a technicality. I think both the Celtics (who I hope make it to the finals for one last run) and the Heat are going to be outmatched in the Finals against OKC. But I guess we will have to just wait and see.

If Lebron played like this every game from here on out, he will get his first title. He won't though. Another thing is Paul Pierce is way off tonight. If he is on his usual game, it's still a close game. What does that say about LeBrons supporting cast tonight?

I love how people casually throw this out and use it as a knock on LeBron. Well why doesn't he just do it every game? It's really ******* hard to throw up a 40/18/9 or 45/15/5 in playoff games. He's been terrific all playoffs, he's averaging 31/10/5, you can't expect anyone to have all time great games night in and night out. Jordan couldn't do it, Bird couldn't do it, Magic couldn't do it.

LeBron should have won it last year too. Rose was good, but it was like the 90s when they just started giving he MVP to other people than Jordan because they were tired of it.

I've said over and over and over and over and over and over and over again that he's the most talented player IN THE HISTORY OF BASKETBALL...but he's also a SELF ABSORBED ARROGANT D-BAG. The two aren't mutually exclusive, in this case they fit together like a glove. He has a weakness in that he defers in many close fourth quarters as proven by his NBA Finals 4th quarters last year, but he is clearly the most talented to ever play the game.

There's no rule that people need to LIKE the most talented player ever, especially when he's created such a ridiculous and overblown "championship of me" before he ever won a title.

That's not "hating", it's just that looking around and seeing nearly every other superstar and nearly every other team is more likable. LeBron fans see "haters". Non LeBron fans can't believe that anyone would look around the NBA and pick a new favorite team centered around the most arrogant actions and statements in NBA history.

You can acknowledge incredible greatness and still dislike somebody. It's really simple and some of you guys are just dense or have blinders on.

Or we're not Bulls fans. Bulls fans and Lebron haters are the same people.

On an off night...

Because it WAS an off night!! For **** sake, you're doing exactly what you're accusing the other guy of doing. When the Celtics had the lead back down to 11 points, I watched LeBron Bron and Mike Miller miss a shot on two possession, and on the three Celtics possessions wrapped around that, Garnett missed a layup, Pierce missed a layup, and Pietrus missed a three. They had a chance to be within 4 points in the third quarter and blew it. They couldn't hit a wide open three pointer all night.

That's an off night.

Sports Guy wrote the following:

B. Speaking of advanced metrics, if you're using them to make the case against Rose, I submit the following two lines:

Player A: 27.2 PPG, 10.1 RPG, 4.2 APG, 54% FG, 76% FT, 28.4 PER, 16.6 WS, 60% TS%, 1st-team All-Defense.

Player B: 29.2 PPG, 5.9 RPG, 3.8 APG, 48% FG, 81% FT, 26.3 PER, 17.1 WS, 55% TS%, 1st-team All-Defense.

Who was better? It's close, but you picked Player A, right? Well ... those were the combined numbers for Karl Malone and Michael Jordan during the 1997 and 1998 regular seasons. You just picked Malone. Thank you and please drive through.

Trying to find this. Has anyone scored 50 in a playoff game since Jordan retired?

63 is still the record. I'd love to say I watched someone break that record.

63 but it was OT. That gets looked over a lot, I'm pretty sure MJ only scored 55 in regulation and Elgin Baylor had a 61 in regulation playoff game.

Jordan's most amazing #s by far are his regular season, playoff and finals scoring averages.

Averaging 45 ppg in a playoff series TWICE, Averaging 37 for a season, averaging over 33.4 CAREER playoffs, averaging 41 ppg in an NBA Finals...those #s aren't going to be even remotely touched by anybody playing basketball right now.

Okay, on those possessions when Lebron and Miller missed shots they can have made them. What's your point? People miss shots.

Jordan did put up back to back 50 pointers.
