All my best Cyclone memories growing up were narrated by Pete.

it is funny, but growing up listening to Pete, there weren't always the best memories, but cherished just the same. I can still vividly hear Pete say something like "Its just not the Cyclones night" during a road basketball game (which was often then). I felt like his fandom matched ours in his broadcast as well as any PXP guy I've heard.

We've been so lucky to have the announcing crew we have. Pete and Eric now JW and Eric. Lots of hours listening to those 2 combos in vehicles at home at work etc.... Pete was the shocker for me just so young when he died.

I was driving to the game in Hilton that day against Missouri when we heard the news on the radio that he had passed. Hilton had a vibe that night and ISU jumped all over Missouri and won easily. Pete was there.

No doubt, he often sounded like he was as pissed off as I was. If you tuned in mid-game, you could often tell how it was going before they even said the score.

I'm glad he got to call those 2 magical years that we had under Larry.

ISU has been very fortunate to have Pete and JW for decades. I can still hear Pete's call at the end of the ISU-Nebraska 2002 game: "This may not be the Nebraska of old, but it certainly is the cyclones of new"

I remember playing against Nebraska in football and one of his lines was (something to the effect of) "their seventh string running back is out there running around like he's Barry Sanders" lol.

Pete was JW's mentor. Sure Pete is proud that JW was his successor.

You and I (58) are both older than Pete was when he died (57). Hard to believe.

You know who has turned into a very good play by play person? Noah Wolfe. It sometimes gets lost because the color commentary for WBB is somewhat weak. But Noah is very good.

I remember a radio pre-game at Baylor. Pete discussing the keys to the game and what not, then "THE BAYLOR BEAR HAS GOTTEN LOOSE!"

Seems like we may have gotten 10 televised games a year max (way less in football), so Pete's voice on the radio was the lifeline to guide you through what was happening.

I loved listening to ISU games on the radio in the mid 90s and hearing Pete get excited every time Troy Davis would rip off a big run.
