Pete Taylor

My fav memories of Pete

1- Listening to Pete call football games while I was hauling grain to the elevator in an International 1086. I would have been 15-18 years old. The tractor had a crummy radio, and keeping the game in tune was a constant struggle. Heard Pete call Shudak's game winning FG against an opponent I don't remember (probably K state in 1987)

2- My parents bought me a little CB/AM radio when I was a kid. When ISU had a weeknight BB game, I would pretend to go to sleep, wait a while, and then tune in to listen to Pete and Eric call the game. This was when Johnny was just starting to resurrect the program. I was maybe 11 or 12.

3- Listening to Pete call the 1996 Big 8 tournament while I was hiding in my Chevy Beretta at Army Reserve drill weekend. Those premium bucket seats came in handy because I could recline all the way back so the NCO's could see me. "Cato rips home a two handed dunk!".

4- In the pre internet days, tuning in a game was the only way to know the score. Pete didn't always say the score as frequently as he probably should have, but it only took 10 seconds of listening to know how things were going.
